The velcro below the zipper does not hold the jacket together.

I purchased this jacket with hopes that it would be comperable to another vendors jacket that was too big for me (they discontinued size Medium). The acutal jacket's materials is good ripstop canvas and seems to be well made. The velcro that runs up the front and seals pockets is VERY POOR QUALITY. I knew it was a half zipper (good for easy access to my holster) but the velcro that holds the bottom half together flew open as soon as I walked out the door and the wind hit it. The pockets have the same cheap quality velcro. The zipper is also cheap and slides down too easily, basically, it won't stay zipped. If they fixed the velcro and zipper, this would go from 2 to 4-5 stars.

Okay, Here's the straight skinny on this jacket, that I purchased in spite of the bad reviews. Yes, the velcro could be better, it's kinda weak, but not bad, probably will replace it... cheap fix. The jacket runs a little large unless you plan on wearing something under it, like say a sweater when it's pretty cold or maybe a ballistic vest if your situation requires it. Don't misunderstand it's not a tent or anything like that, it is a really good looking jacket. The jacket has pockets everywhere, four inside with loops for mags, one in sleeve, four visible outside in front and two hidden breast zipper pockets that are just right for carrying something the size of a ppk, makarov, just about any smallish auto without printing. My FNP-9 is just a bit big but anything smaller...no problem. If you buy the correct size the jacket is plenty long to cover what you have on your hip. The sleeves are a little longer than most, but the cuffs are adjustable, don't see a problem there but I guess some folks do. My jacket is black and it is really really black, seems like it is dyed darker than usual which is nice. This is a light weight jacket, I start wearing mine around the time that I would put on a heavy sweat shirt, say around 45F to 50F. Plenty warm down to around freezing with just normal shirt underneath. Would I recommend this jacket to a friend? You bet, already have.

Buy one size smaller!! I am 5'11 200lbs so I ordered the large thinking if anything at all it might be a little snug with my ballistic vest. However, this was not the case and it was still too big and the shoulders sagged. This is too bad because overall it seemed like a well put together jacket and had enough pockets for all of my gear. The half sipper is a good concept but it would have been nice if it zipped down a little further. Mine was shipped from LG Outdoors because of there return policy, re-stocking fee and other B.S fees I would not buy through them. Of the $83.00 I paid for this coat I was only refunded $70.86 and had to pay $10.00 to ship it back.....So what is that come to about a $23.00 loss to me. Big rip off and Amazon should discontinue using them, unless they change there policy.

The zipper is literally HALF a zipper. I can't see any reason for this- it's comical. My job requires concealed carry. If the idea is to draw your weapon easier then don't bother with a zipper at all-- just use velcro all the way up. Or put a slit up the bottom of either side of the jacket with velcro....There are four inside pockets which could be used for ccw, however, the ridiculous half zipper inhibits easy access to those pockets LOL. The sleeves are completely out of proportion in length (long) and the cuff has one button hole with two buttons. If you fasten the sleeve at the second button, which is a must due to the length of the sleeve, then you get a flap of jacket sleeve swaying around because the buttons face inward instead of out. Gee, maybe sew the buttons the other way around? or maybe use one button and cut a second button hole might solve the problem without a ruffled sleeve look? And the jacket is made where? You guessed it-- China. That might explain the goofy design-- or maybe it was designed by a bunch of second grade school kids? Finally, the jacket is not warm at all nor particularly comfortable with no liner included. The only good thing about this jacket is it's looks. It's trendy. A great trendy jacket for fashionistas and posers. A terrible jacket for all others.

I wanted a light weight jacket with lots of pockets (yes, pocket fetish I suppose but I do use them) and capable of keeping me dry as I do things like rush from car to door.
The good: It is comfortable, fit well, well made, and the pockets are both numerous and practical for my use. It does shed water well enough for dashes from car to door. I have not tried to stand in a rain so I cannot speak to its ability to withstand longer wettings.
I bought the tan and so far it has resisted stainings.
The bad: It does have a 1/2 zipper in order to facilitate quick access to weapons for those who need that. The velcro below the zipper does not hold the jacket together. Fortunately, I do not live in a world where I anticipate gun battles while, for example, going to the grocery so this feature is not needed. I fixed it by putting in a full length zipper. The jacket is built for a full length zipper to facilitate putting one in. Worked real well and I am quite satisfied.
Actually, if I were to need a coat that facilitates a quick draw I believe that the market features those that have built in holsters which would do better in a higher intensity than I live in environment.
Also, it lacks and needs a set of hand warmer pockets. I miss those.
Bottom line - I rated it a three overall. A four (almost a 5) for quality and overall features but I knocked a star off for the zipper and (mainly) lack of hand warmer pockets. If you are looking for a good buy in this sort of jacket, this is worth looking at seriously. But beware the couple of flaws I noted.
