As a retired Coast Guardsman I spent a lot of time in the field wearing our version of BDU's (called ODU's - same design but dark blue), and after retirement wore my ODU trousers almost every day because of their comfort and versatility. But alas, they faded and had too many holes to fix, so I started looking for a replacement. The ideal trouser would have many functional pockets (I like a thigh pocket to carry my wallet so I don't have to sit on it) and flaps over the pockets to keep debris out (when working on the farm). These Woolrich pants looked ideal - at least in the description. Problem is, they just don't measure up to the basic standards of a good, rugged BDU trouser. The fabric is a funny kind of crinkly material (almost like nubby crepe) that grabs and holds every little bit of dust, grass and dog hair (I have 2 Goldens). The back pockets are surrounded by swimming-pool deep outer pockets and all are open to the outside (no flaps). Worst of all, the cut has a relatively short rise, combined with an odd rear-low bias that makes them feel like they're always riding up my backside, even standing. The point of BDU's (or ODU's) is a to have a comfortable, rugged, soil-resisting and versatile garment that feels as good after 10 hours in the saddle as the first 5 minutes. These do not meet that standard - at all.

Some of the most durable and comfortable pants I own,
This review is from: Woolrich Men's Elite Lightweight Tactical Pant (Sports)
I've been hooked on tactical pants since my first pair of Proppers to meet job requirement to carry a number of tools but also maintain a khaki dress code. These pants are the most comfortable I've worn, other brands I've tried include Propper, 5.11, and Tru-Spec. The combination of pockets, utility ring and comfort is unsurpassed. I wore these pants for over a week (yes a little extreme, but they seemed to resist dust and hadn't developed any undue odors even to the last day). Most of my pants if worn even a couple days (my job is mostly walking around, nothing that really makes one break a sweat) begin to become uncomfortable and rub in all the wrong places, these pants were as comfortable the last day as they were the first.

I know these are 60 dollars and you can try them on in advance because no store carries them, but i took the dive an ordered them. Once they arrived i am deployed so it took a min to get here but they are well worth it much more durable than my last pants and cooler in this heat. After two days i ordered 3 more pair. Also the other reveiws are right order a little big for your size they do run a little small
