5.0 out of 5 stars Love this for my kindle December 4, 2011

I've been getting The Word Among Us for years and I love that I can get it on my Kindle now and be able to read it anywhere. It has the daily readings for the mass and other interesting articles. Before I never had a lot of time to read it, but now I can read it anywhere on my Kindle and will always have it with me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better Than iMissal January 16, 2012
Been reading WAU since 1989 when our pastor gave them out for free. A few years later I moved. 1st thing - got my own. WAU is a great blessing in my life.

The Kindle edition is wonderful on numerous counts.

It is so easy and quick to navigate. You understand it all the 1st time through. Ease and logic prevail. Chances are familiarity with the print version encourages understanding.

Basically, home base, so to speak, is the "Section List" which clearly lists everythng in the issue.- similar to "Inside this Issue.... in the print version.

Each area is divided into sections and article. For example, if you click on the Daily Mass Readings in "View Section" you are returned to where you left off - VERY NICE! If you click on View Articles in that section you get a list of all the Daily Readings and Meditations for the month- click on the one you want - also, VERY NICE!

By the way, you can pick up Joe Difato's inspirations by clicking on "Cover".

Amazon and WAU missed nothing. What an inspiration to combine two class operations! No doubt - it was the Holy Spirit! Amen.

In the Daily Mass Readings you will find it to be exactly like print version; you can read all the prayers and readings. An added bonus is the Meditation at the end of each days' readings - VERY NICE!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Catholic Devotional Hands Down December 26, 2011
I've been a WAU subscriber for 10 years. It has absolutely enhanced my devotion time and kept me focused and meditative on the daily readings. The reflections on the readings are relevant and so well written! It is exciting to know I can now carry it with me on my Kindle! I've often used the on-line option when I've traveled, but I think this is a great "other option". Until the "powers that be" release the NAB (New American Bible) for download to a Kindle or your phone, it's great to have the readings included with this edition. I don't subscribe to the Catholic Mass Edition with my home delivery copy, and I use the on-line access to the NAB when I use the on-line WAU option. Bravo to Amazon and the Word Among Us. I guess if the Pope can have a Twitter account, this is only appropriate and the next step to bring the best Catholic Devotional to more hands in the new frontier!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, what a great spiritual resource! June 21, 2012
By Chris
I first learned about this publication about 10 years ago when I saw a small rack in the back of our parish with free samples. I subscribed to the paper version and loved it. After 2-3 years I changed my subscription to the web version only, which was great as I had a job where I started to travel, and with all the new smartphone devices I could now read it anywhere. So my "system" was to go to the USCCB site first for the readings, then the WAU site for the Meditation. I try doing this every morning with my cup of coffee, before things get too hectic.

My web subscription recently ran out so I went up to the WAU site to renew, which is when I saw they now offer a Kindle version. Outstanding! The Kindle version is very well-organized, and so easy to navigate. Also the daily Mass readings and the Meditations are at the same place, so very convenient (i.e. you don't have to click to another section for the Meditation, it flows right after the readings).

My only quibble is that there seems to be no method for sharing text with other people from the Kindle version. For example, sometimes there is a Meditation that particularly "speaks" to my heart, and that I would like to share with my wife or someone else who I think would appreciate the message as well. This is likely more of a Kindle-issue as I know it does not allow copy-paste capabilities (surely due to copyright issues). Also, in the iPhone version there does not appear to be a way to highlight or make notes.

This said, for anyone who is seeking to deepen their faith I simply cannot recommend the Word Among Us enough. It has really become a part of my daily prayer "routine", and something I look forward to in the morning (although our baby has had something to say about my routine this year - heh).

5.0 out of 5 stars This is Wonderful! February 12, 2012
I'm so happy to have the Word Amongst Us for my Kindle. I've been going online every morning to read the daily Bible readings before work, it'll be so much easier for me to read it directly from my Kindle. I find I have a much better day when I make time for the daily reading each morning. I would like to add that the magazine is very easy to navigate from my Kindle.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Resource September 28, 2012

The Word Among Us in the print format is an excellent guide to the daily Mass readings. Additionally, the stories and meditations provided offer a helpful and practical way to enter Scripture more deeply. The Kindle format is even better than the traditional print format for me because of ease of use, large print text capability and the easy navigation process. I highly recommend, "The Word Among Us."

How does WAU compare to Magnificat and or Gives This Day?
WAU is much less formal than Magnificat and Give Us. Half of the articles are catechism related and half are more general faith related. The mass readings are very accessible and written in modern language for non-priests if you will.
