The Sword Study Bible King James Version has its good and bad points.Off the bat, I prefer the King James Easy Reading Version much better than this, but that is neither here nor there. This Bible has a lot of helps, and nice, large print.
In the 'Con' department, it has the words of God in both Testaments in a bright, fire-engine red which needs to be toned down...

This Bible features a study aid that will take you through the entire Bible showing every Scripture on the subject you choose to study.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Bible if accuracy doesn't matter, April 3, 2006
This review is from: The Word of God King James Study Bible (Leather Bound)
I loved this Bible with all it's helps, (see other reviews for list of helps) I thought it was about time that the words of G-d were written in red to give the same importance as Jesus' words. I really loved the cover because I didn't want my Bible to look like everyone elses (it has a large sword on it and instead of saying THE BIBLE it reads WORD OF G-D). The large print is fantastic and there is enough room in the margin to even put your notes. I also liked the fact that if there was a quote from another area of the Bible that it was boxed and told you where that quote came from so you didn't have to dig to find it. Here is the only problem literally that I have found with this Bible and that there is misprints and typos and even in one particular verse a word was added, and a few references had forgot either a set of numbers to look up the verse or which book it was in such as Kings (1 or 2?) in one particular reference the verse was not there because the chapter was not there I had thought maybe transposed and searched many ways but could not find that particular reference. So you end up constantly checking with another Bible to see if what you are seeing is correct. I had contacted GEM publishing but had not rceived word back. IF accuracy doesn't matter this Bible is for You. Perhaps you will be more fortunate and the errors are corrected, if that is the case this really is a FANTASTIC BIBLE!!The question then is are you willing to spend the money without seeing it first to find out if they have corrected it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pastor Perspective, March 22, 2011

I bought this Bible because a majority of my congregation prefer the King James. I am just not a huge fan of the KJV because the language is as ancient. Nobody speaks with the "thee's" and "thou's" so enter the KJVer.

This translation is much easier to read without confusing some people with another translation. The large print is great, and the Old and Testament red-letter edition is nice as well.

I bought the genuine leather and think it was nicely done. It has an excellent feel to it.

The study notes, definitions, and wide columns make it a really good, all-around study Bible. There are tons of others features as well that you don't normally find in a large print Bible that make this Bible another big plus.

While the book may be a little bit bulky, I don't think it is all that much for what you get.

I have been looking for a long time to find a Bible that would suit my preaching and study needs and it looks like I found it. I would highly recommend this Bible for someone who wants to stay close to the KJV and for ease of reading. You won't be disappointed.

I absolutely love this Bible. There are many valuable helps in the back, and it's a great idea to have the words of God in red in the Old Testament. Many people at my church have puchased this particular Bible to use in our Monday night Bible study classes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great content; lesser quality, May 12, 2007
This review is from: The Word of God King James Study Bible (Leather Bound)
The content and way this Bible is put together is SUPERB. However, the quality of the binding/overall product is a little on the "cheap" side (but if you consider the very reasonable price, that is not so bad.) Would benefit from being in a cover is the main thing.

Having the words of God in the OT in red is a big help.

The Sword Bible - KJVER Study Bible - Based on the 1611 KJV - Special Margin Edition

The KJVER Sword Bible text is based on the beloved 1611 King James Version with minor word changes to make the text easier to read and understand. The KJVER does not change any doctrine or meaning but has merely helps to explain the text through minor word updates. For example: "Thee" is changed to "You" and "believest" to believe. An index of every word change is included in the KJVER so that you can reference the old English and the changes.

Special Margin Study Guide.

The Sword have a unique easy to use margin study guide with over 90 topics from which to choose. This margin study guide allows the reader to go from cover-to-cover using the pure word of God as their study. There are many other study helps too numerous to list. To name just a few are: a topical concordance, maps, earthquake charts, flood information, the chronology of the bible (by Dr. Floyd Jones), Bible and Science (by Dr. Henry Morris), guide to the laws of the Bible, Jewish calendar, a survey of Daniel's 70 weeks, land and people of the Bible, the time of the patriarchs, judges and kings, and on and on.

The Received Text

Another primary difference between the KJV Easy Reading and other versions on the market is it follows the Received Text. The Received Text is what the church fathers have used for nearly 400 years. The Easy Reading follows the King James text almost word for word merely updating language. Among the many reasons for this is it allows one who has learned English as a second language to have an understanding of the scriptures without thee's and thous'. Please note this has all been done without changing one word of doctrine or touching deity.

Difficult Term Definitions

Underlined words are defined at the end of the verse in a different typeface. When an underlined word occurs more than once per column, it is defined generally in the first and last occurrence in the text column. The explanatory words are not necessarily to be understood as alternate translations, nor as corrective translations. These words, however, will often open up the meaning of a word or verse that often has been otherwise not understood or misunderstood.

Superscript P's

Many wanted the reliability of the King James Bible but were unfamiliar or uncomfortable with many of the old English forms and words. The King James Easy-Reading Bible changes all second person singular pronouns to their modern equivalents: thee (you), thy (your), thine (yours), and thyself (yourself). To distinguish the plural pronouns from the singular ones, the King James Easy-Reading Bible places a superscript p (meaning plural) after each plural second person pronoun. Accordingly, the old English forms yield to the modern equivalents: ye (you p ), you (you p ), your (your p ), yours (yours ), and yourselves (yourselves ). Whenever these forms reflect the name of deity, they begin with a capital letter.

Reading Grade Level

The KJVER version is the easiest reading Bible at the 4th Grade level as tested by the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level Indicator test

The Sword Study Bible King James Version has its good and bad points.Off the bat, I prefer the King James Easy Reading Version much better than this, but that is neither here nor there. This Bible has a lot of helps, and nice, large print.
In the 'Con' department, it has the words of God in both Testaments in a bright, fire-engine red which needs to be toned down. The cover is absolutely gross, with what appears to be a hand-drawn sword, and large script writing, everything in gold, on the front cover. IMHO, all this needs to be totally eliminated. The Bible is also very large and very heavy, and I can't see a lot of people shlepping this tacky-looking thing around. As I stated, it has its good and bad points. The choice is up to the buyer.(Note 12-4-07) It IS being redesigned by another publisher!)
