This Bible is filled with graphics, charts and notes that help make the subject matter clear and easy to follow. With a format similar to USA Today, it really captures the reader's attention and is great for bible studies. People who have this Bible are very dedicated to it. Unfortunately finding a new, leather copy is nearly impossible!

At the beginning of this year, my mother and I decided we would read through this Bible. It has been an amazing journey. With a little over a month left in the century, I am just starting I Peter. Although I have read through the Bible before, I believe I have learned many times over what I ever knew before about God's Word. The extra maps, articles, definitions, biographies, and commentaries are so helpful. I would recommend it to a person who has never read the Bible, but also to a person who thinks they know the subject matter well.

I purchased my copy the moment it became available in the early 90's. I've had other study bibles since then (Thompson's, Life Application, NIV) but I've enjoyed studying the Bible through Word in Life the most. I've passed on my copy to my teenage son now, hoping he would enjoy it as much as I did. It's sad that the publishers never came out with the old testament version.

This is an excellent resource for someone looking for easy-to-read, in-depth information about Bible characters, places, and events! A very reader-friendly format!

This book offers fascinating insight into the historical background to the period that the gospels were written. While it does not give the latest research on the background to the actual writing of the texts it does give excellent suggestions and is helpful for group discussion. If you are looking for a simple reading, this is not your book but if you are looking for a 'feel' for the time of the gospels, this is excellent.

I have just stared my christian walk and this bible helps me a lot in understanding what God is saying to me through His word. The articles are indepth and relevant in today's world and the characters of the bible really come alive along with the maps and the many explanations of what life was like in those days. I would recommend this bible to all christians whether new or mature.
