4.0 out of 5 stars A great, educational toy, perfect for a long car ride.
Word Spin is a wonderful toy that can kill hours during a long car ride. Unlike reading, Word Spin won't make you carsick, and will not easily bore. If being able to rotate the pieces wasn't enough, they also come off of the rod in the center, adding more challenge to this already somewhat-difficult game. Yet another great aspect of this toy is that the pieces are...

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun to a degree, but look before you leap
Word Spin is a great idea, but as with many neat concept there are a couple of points to consider about the actual creation. First, the price is pretty steep for a small hand-held game. I'm sure I didn't pay [very much] for the one I purchased sans all the unneeded, wasteful packaging. Second, even though the pieces are magnetic, they are still quite easy to lose or...

Yet another great aspect of this toy is that the pieces are magnectic, therefore making it harder to lose them. I'd recommend Word Spin for kids age 10 and up, especially those who have good vocabularies.

Word Spin is a great idea, but as with many neat concept there are a couple of points to consider about the actual creation. First, the price is pretty steep for a small hand-held game. I'm sure I didn't pay [very much] for the one I purchased sans all the unneeded, wasteful packaging. Second, even though the pieces are magnetic, they are still quite easy to lose or misplace when they skitter across the floor and lodge underneath the refrigerator..

This game works best as stop-gap entertainment, and if your 8-12-year-old is a budding wordsmith, he or she might derive 15-20 minutes worth of diversion by twisting and arranging the concentric rings to create words of up to eight letters. A plus is that you can reduce the number of rings by sliding one or more from the center spoke to make the game less daunting for younger children. A built-in bonus is that kids will also enjoy snapping the rings together or letting the magnets repel each other. Which leads us back to my comment about how easy it is to lose the letter rings.

Wordspin is a favorite of ours. We love that it can be adapted for younger children as well as for adults by taking off or adding rings. It's always fun to try and find words that other people missed and to rearrange the rings.
