This book gives you a lot of important basics you need in order to start with a Word Press Blog. And there's some advanced material as well. Did you know that you can do CMS with Word Press?

Wordpress is a really awesome piece of software for managing simple websites, most notably blogs. I have been using it for several months for my clients' websites, and have been impressed by the quality of the code, the relative ease of the user interface, and the great community of designers and programmers who contribute to the knowledgebase of this free software.

If you are fairly new to the world of web publishing, this book will probably seem pretty darn sophisticated, and that's great. If you follow the instructions here, your wordpress website will probably be cooler than that of your friends, and what more can you ask for but to Pimp My Blog?

For the more experienced web developer, this book is a good guide if you've just started using Wordpress and your expectations are modest. The book doesn't even begin to cover sophisticated ins and outs, or offer any dissection of what makes wordpress such great software. So, if you already have an excellent grasp of CSS, a modest grasp of PHP, and some history of web design, this book is a great way to dive right in, but not a way to build your technical skills or deepen your understanding of Wordpress.

Enjoy using Wordpress! Since the software is completely free despite being worth hundreds of dollars per installation, the $25 that this book costs is well worth it.

I recommend this book, with a couple of caveats. It's a fairly helpful guide, intended mostly for novices. That being the case, certain how-to explanations are left out, it being assumed you know the WordPress basics already. You will need to go, with book in hand, and play around with the software a bit to see what the authors are exactly describing. This is usually what you need to do with software anyway to fully understand it. Buy this book and use it, just don't expect it to be an A-Z bible.

I am learning as I go along. This resource is easy to read, the instructions are clear, and the content is appropriate for almost anyone having a basic knowledge of computers. I also appreciate the many references to setting up, using, and managing blogs. The author's use of graphics makes this resource a "piece-of-cake" to read, impliment, and use.
