5.0 out of 5 stars My Little Lifesaver
I actually bought the 2.7 book which covers the new one, but that book has been a life saver for me. I was tired of reading articles online, trying to go through the help file, and I bought a few other blogging books, but none of them actually showed me how to get my blog up and online.

This book did that for me, and for that I will be eternally grateful...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for general information
This is not a step by step boo9k to learn WordPress. It contains only general information about the product but may be helpful to advanced blog creators.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Little Lifesaver, December 27, 2008
This review is from: WordPress Foundations (Paperback)
I actually bought the 2.7 book which covers the new one, but that book has been a life saver for me. I was tired of reading articles online, trying to go through the help file, and I bought a few other blogging books, but none of them actually showed me how to get my blog up and online.

This book did that for me, and for that I will be eternally grateful.

The book is not full of stuff I do not need (this means it is not a reference book), I think the whole point of the book is to get you online, and used to using the wordpress interface. It does this greatly!

I actually have pages highlighted, pages turned over, and I reference it most every time I start to write a new post (which is very fun!)

The other reviewer here mentions that the book is full of grammar issues (I did not notice any in my 2.7 book, but then again, I'm not a grammar nut)

Also, The books I bought to learn how to blog were all published very recently, and most all of them showed different pictures of the same thing. I think this platform must change rapidly, and I think its hard for the authors to keep up.

I bought the dummies book and it uses a very old version, and it is night and day compared to the new 2.7 interface (which the new book by Jason covers). I think this is just something we all have to deal with.

I was confused when reading the older books and trying to apply them to my blog. I was wanting to give up, nothing was the same.

Luckily I found this wonderful gem and got online and blogging right away.

I recommend buying this book (well the new version) and I also recommend checking out ProBlogger, which will teach you some nifty ideas on how to start making money with your blog.

If you want a reference guide to wordpress, this is not your book. If you want to get online, and you have never been online before, you will not be happier.

1.0 out of 5 stars DON"T BUY THIS BOOK!, December 24, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: WordPress Foundations (Paperback)
I gave this book one star only because there was not an option for none. Do not buy this book! Within five minutes of skimming it, I knew I had made a mistake and returned it immediately. First, it is obsolete, referencing early versions of WordPress, although this is no fault of the author: it was relevant when the book was written. Secondly, it contains no information that cannot be found on the WordPress website or by simply playing with WordPress. Thirdly, and in my mind, most importantly, it is replete with grammatical, spelling and punctuation errors, for example "This book needed to be wrote." Save your money and look at the early 2009 WordPress for Dummies, which is written for the most current, and significantly improved, version of WordPress, before buying anything.
