5.0 out of 5 stars LHDF puts his two cents in, August 11, 2003

I discovered Homunculus several years ago. What impressed me about them was their verve and spark in their live shows. Not only are they excellent musicians, but fine individuals off-stage and out of the studio. That infectious energy is captured on Words.
Words is a great CD. All of their releases are good, but Words is by far my favorite. Every song on Words gets stuck in your head, sometimes all at the same time!
If you love just plain good music, give yourself a treat and buy Words!
Peace
LHDF

5.0 out of 5 stars "words, words, words...", October 16, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Words (Audio CD)
If there were a band able to break and change the mold of pop out there right now, THIS is that band. Homunculus' clever lyrics, soaring choruses, three-part harmonies and masterful playing put Words into it's own class. You'll see elements of pop, rock, hip-hop, and jazz among countless other styles throughout the album. From "Here and There" a song that just plain moves, to "Kitten Got Claws", to "Deep South Beach", and "OK", the album is rock solid--good luck choosing a favorite song. Not to mention the live show will blow your mind--guaranteed. A must have album.

Don't stop at this review....YOU MUST LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM! Not only does this album have some of the catchiest tunes I have heard this decade, it also swoons some of the best lyrics, delightfully ripples out the most eclectic musical performances, and gives us a reason to break the horrible silence of all music fans and scream, "hallelujah!!! Music is back! This will no doubt make all lovers of great music wonder why we are standing by and listening to ... on the radio. WORD! to fantastic music!

By far there best album. Songs that will make you sing like "Okay" have been loved by every person I've ever played it for. Not one person that I have introduced to the music of Homunculus has had any reaction other than..."This band is AMAZING".

4.0 out of 5 stars A Long Love Affair, July 7, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Words (Audio CD)
About 3 years ago, I was blessed enough to meet the guys of Homunculus and haven't stopped loving them since! Their music is so differant than a lot of the crap that is out today and their shows are filled with so much energy and excitment. Although Words is not my favorite of their cd's (Their first CD is my favorite), it still ranks right up there with some of my all time top picks. The music fits the guy's crazy personalities, I can picture Ben (lead singer)jumping around stage when I listen to Words or Kevin singing soulfully into the microphone. They are not a band who changes completely from live shows to CD's so if you have a chance to see them live, do so (and push for them to come to your area!) I like the direction the band has been moving in and can't wait to hear the new album which is rumored to be underway!

Homuncu-listen man. Truth be told, finally, a band that can take you on a trip through space and time. Deep South Beach will have you moving your feet like you never thought possible. This album's a hit.

5.0 out of 5 stars What wrong with you, Amazon???, April 6, 2003

This was an excellent CD. Homunculus brings back the music of long ago and turns it into something new and exciting. "Here And There", "Deep South Beach", and "Stargazing" are awesome.

My only problem is that Amazon, who is supposed to have everything, is missing Homunculus's first two albums. What's the deal with that!? "Words" is, believe it or not, their third album. Their first album, "Homunculus" has the original version of "Okay", and I own their second album, "The Pulse Of Directed Devotion", which is an awesome album, and features concert standards, "Get Outta The Way", and "Basic Word". So, Amazon, stock this album!!!! If not, I guess I'll just have to wait until I see them in concert again... Oh, well.
