5.0 out of 5 stars Great compilation, January 11, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Words And The Music Of Frankenstein (Film Score Anthology) (Audio CD)
I don't know why people complain about the words in their review because this is entitled "The WORDS and music". Yes, there are a lot of soundclips. This isn't solely a music CD or even really a soundtrack but an audio tribute with both soundbites and music.

Rob Zombie did a nice job on the compilation. The sound bites are good ones, and the audio quality is good. The picture book of movie posters and stills is great.

If you collect horror memoribilia and are a fan of the old horror films, or you used to watch the "Creature Feature" type show on the local UHF stations, then you should get this. It's a very nice tribute. If you want to listen to a CD of music, you probably won't enjoy it as much or even understand why this is so cool.

5.0 out of 5 stars For Frankenstein Fans, October 29, 1999
This review is from: The Words And The Music Of Frankenstein (Film Score Anthology) (Audio CD)
The first guy to review this CD is right, it's not a Rob Zombie music CD. But if you're a fan of Frankenstein, it's a lot of fun. I don't know how many people would enjoy this CD, but I'll put it this way: I've been known to watch Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, and Son of Frankenstein back-to-back in one sitting. So this CD is ideal for me. Now I can take these movies into my car with me. Because all there is to this CD is just dialogue snippets from the three movies, with a few short patches of music from the films. Frankenstein, in case you didn't know, was made in 1931, when movies didn't usually have music scores. The movie had one minute of music, which you get here. It's nice to see that Zombie included clips from the oft-forgotten Son of Frankenstein, Karloff's third and final portrayal of the monster. Son is often forgotten because Karloff is the only significant member of the original team from the first two Franks to return for the third pic. Director James Whale is gone, Colin Clive is gone, that guy that played Fritz is gone. But new cast members include Basil Rathbone and Bela Lugosi. Oh, by the way, I know what you're thinking, and the answer's "yes". When I have watched Frank, Bride, and Son of Frank, I usually followed it up with Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein.

2.0 out of 5 stars CD-WRITER + Sound Samples = This Album (No Zombie Music), November 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Words And The Music Of Frankenstein (Film Score Anthology) (Audio CD)
I was hoping for a bit of music from Rob Zombie in this compiliation of the Frankenstine movies.

Although, the cd is rather good from a horror fan's point of view. The Rob Zombie fan will be seriously disapointed that there is ** NO ROB ZOMBIE MUSIC HERE **.

Which is a disapointment for me, I though Zombie would have done some background music for the original dialog from the movies. Thats what I was looking for.

But did not get...

The packaging, has a lot of good stills from the movie, along with some "behind the scenes" photos, of like Lagosi & Karloff cutting a Birthday cake in their monster make up.

Would have been nice to see an Enhanced CD out of this work, but did not happen here.

Zombie is thinking from what I have heard in rumor to do simular albums for the other Universal Monsters.

I just hope he does something a bit different, rather then audio clips from the movies.

This album could have been easly made by anyone who has access to all three movies, or a audio clip site on the net dealing with horror, and a CD Writer. Thats is it.. thats all this cd is..

So if you are just into the horror, then this CD is a nice addition to your collection. Great for listening to at night before going to bed in a darkened room (lets your imagination run wild).

Zombie fans, sad to say, there is no music on this CD for us.
