It's refreshing to find a book that isn't a rehash of the usual advice: how to do realistic dialogue, constructing a plot, tightening up sentences, etc. There are some deep subjects discussed here, and it's changed how I read and write and how I think about writing. Densely-packed - it's like attending a really good series of lectures - I'll certainly have to reread this a few times.

I found this to be a good book of writing essays. I enjoyed these and took something - at least one thing - from every essay. If I get at least one good thing from any experience it is worth it to me. This book is not an easy read, but for someone that wants to get something new, or to improve their writing, it's a must read.
