One of the best 'self help' books I ever read.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Words That Hurt, Words That Heal (Paperback)
This book not only prevents your hurting other people with your words, but it also teaches you how to consider the motivation behind words directed at you from other people. When you learn how and why people use words to manipulate your feelings, you can alter your reaction to protect yourself from hurt.

Will have you thinking and praying before you speak!,

This review is from: Words That Hurt, Words That Heal: Speaking the Truth in Love (Paperback)
A friend of mine introduced this book to me a few years ago, and I find myself returning to it again and again. Chapters deal specifically with: (1) talking too much, (2) bragging, (3) complaining, (4) reckless and careless speech, (5) slander and gossip, (6) anger and conflict, (7) discretion, (8) giving and receiving reproof, (9) gentleness, and (10) praise. This isn't an opinion-driven book, but rather a Bible-driven one - some of the verses/passages used include James 3, Proverbs 10:20, Romans 12:1-2, Phil. 3:10, Psalm 19:14, Proverbs 10:11, and more ... it would take far too long to list them all! I also like that the discussion questions at the end of each chapter are focused on Bible verses; too often Bible-saturated books have questions that seem to esteem the author's words over God's Word, and this one doesn't fall into that trap.

Every person, Christian and non-Christian should read this.,
By Trudy Wilson (Fortuna CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Words That Hurt, Words That Heal (Paperback)
Every Christian should read this book. Even those "mature" who think they have a good foothold on living a Christian life. This book brings to the fore front those "little areas" we love to overlook. It is a great study to do with a partner. You could do it on your own, but some of the power is gained by sharing with another who will hold you accountable to those "Whoops, there I go again." areas of your life.
