This review is from: The Wordsmiths (Hardcover)
... it's written by one.Stephen Citron did a wonderful job in telling about the lives and careers of Lerner and Hammerstein. It was factual and emotional at the same time. It was clever of him to combine these two biographies, being as they were both lyricists and never collaborated. You got a great feel for why their work is different by taking a deep look into their minds, hearts and what was going on around them. I, personally, stumbled across this book while writing a report on Hammerstein, but became so embossed thst I read about Lerner too. If you ever decide to read about either of these people I certainly would recomend this book. |
