Nicely written, easy to follow.,

This review is from: The Work-at-Home Success Bible: A Complete Guide for Women: Start Your Own Business; Balance Work and Home Life; Develop Telecommuting Strategies (Paperback)
I picked up the The Work-at-Home Success Bible by Leslie Truex because one of the things that has been rolling around in my brain is how to take one (or more than one) of the Jack of All Trades things that I do and turn it into a salable commodity.
There are four parts to the book: 1. Living and Working at Home 2. Telecommuting 3. Home Business 4. The Business of Running a Business An Appendix of helps is also included. This too was a very readable book. The living and working at home wasn't especially helpful to me since I've got that experience in my past - those were short term assignments though, so if I decide to try to make a go at this, I may well have to revisit that section. She also includes forms (and links) to help anyone make this decision with enough information. In the Telecommuting section, Leslie gives advice on how to find and apply for telecommuting jobs. Again, you have to have an idea of what you are good at. She also stresses that it's much easier to change a current job into a telecommuting job than it is to go out and find one. In the Home Business section, Leslie talks about the variety of upstarts - including starting from scratch and lists quite a few business that any woman may have in her arsenal. This is the section I spent more time in weighing the options. Not done with that yet. The last section gives advice on legalities, marketing, communication, etc. All the stuff to make the business tick after making the decision to start it. She also lists her web site (Work-at-Home Success) multiple times, and says she has forms to use there, but I haven't looked closely enough to find them yet.

I wish I'd had this book when I first started working at home. I particularly appreciated the Home Sweet Home Office chapter and the tips on establishing a work routine. Good practical advice that has helped me figure out how to make better use of my time.

Leslie's book is the only 'how to' book you'll need for 2009! I've been in business for over 5 years and still learned something new while reading this easy-to-read, professionally written book.
Good job Leslie!

All the answers you need for working at home,

This review is from: The Work-at-Home Success Bible: A Complete Guide for Women: Start Your Own Business; Balance Work and Home Life; Develop Telecommuting Strategies (Paperback)
This book covers it all--how to make the work at home life work for you and your family, business ideas, money management and the all-important business plan and marketing plan (two key items that are often overlooked). This is the kind of resource I wish I'd had when I was preparing my exit from corporate America (I left in 2003 and have never looked back!).
Over the years I've heard from many people who want to work at home and don't know where to start. There are a lot of scams out there and there can be some fear around making such a big transition. In my own experience, I've found that the fear is always minimized through preparation. The more you know about what you're getting yourself into, the less fear you will experience. This is a practical book that will inspire ideas and give you the confidence to venture out on your own. Leslie Truex is a pro with a lot of knowledge to share. I'll be recommending this excellent book from now on.

This is an excellent work-at-home resource that allows readers to see through the smoke screens of the phoney offers vs the real offers. The author, Leslie Truex, has a firm handle on the work-at-home scene. Ms. Truex's book teaches the reader how to tell whether a work-at-home opportunity is a trash or a treasure. It's a MUST-READ for all those who are truly serious about starting a work-at-home business.

This book is an easy read, but it's very basic. Not a lot of advanced information. It's good to get you thinking, but if you've already got something going, this may not help you advance.

Just finished the Work-at-Home Success Bible - LOVED it. It has the clearest directions I've seen on getting a home based business started. Step by step directions are so detailed that I believe anyone starting out will be headed in the right direction immediately. Definitely worth buying. In some areas it could have gone a little more in depth, and used better examples and references, but overall it delivers everything it promises.
