Product Description

WorkSmart Labs' popular CardioTrainer app turns your Android phone into a detailed and customizable personal fitness tracking device. Keep an eye on your workouts, track your progress en route, and share your results with like-minded exercise aficionados. By recording and tracking all your workout details, CardioTrainer is a handy and popular tool to keep track of each of your workouts.

App Name
Set your goals
Starting your workout

When you first open the app, the green Start Workout tab invites you to get moving. CardioTrainer's auto-mapping feature automatically tracks where you are, along with the day and time your workout begins. CardioTrainer prompts you to select the kind of workout you're doing. The list includes running, biking, aerobics, and racquetball among more than 40 entries. You can select Custom if your workout isn't on the list.

App Name
Keep track of previous workouts
Personal trainer

The Trainer tab provides ways to set goals to customize your workout. You can set time goals, distance goals, and calorie goals, and later compare how you did against the targets you set for yourself.

Workout complete

CardioTrainer maps your training route and keeps a running total of your steps, the distance you've traveled (if applicable), your speed, and the calories you've burned. When you've completed your workout, touch the red End Workout button. The app prompts you to save your workout for future reference or discard it if you wish. You can also share your workouts on Facebook or via e-mail.

Customize

CardioTrainer provides a wealth of setting choices so you can tailor the app to suit your needs. Among them are selecting your conversion units, adjusting or disabling the live map, setting your weight for the calorie counter, and controlling the way you share your workout information. If you wish, the app's voice feature will notify you about the distance you traveled, your route, and the calories you burned.

The app includes a built-in music player and provides a personal access code so you can view your workouts online on the WorkSmart Labs website. The site tracks your workouts anonymously--you won't be personally identified if you choose to track your workouts online. CardioTrainer also seamlessly interacts with WorkSmart Labs' paid fitness apps, such as Race Against Yourself, Move Your Bot!, and CardioTrainer Pro.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good app, outdated on Amazon, some quirks January 8, 2013

App is currently outdated here compared to the Play Store. Works as intended but changing most settings crashes the app for me (evo 3D). Fix these and it will be excellent.

First of all, why are people rating an app that they refuse to download? No one cares what you think! Now for the app (I actually use it 4 to 5 times a week), I love this app! It can track many different types of activities and can calculate an estimate of the amount of calories you've burned. It has music controls integrated into the app itself so you don't have to keep going back and forth between apps. If you have a bluetooth heart rate sensor, then you can use it with this app. The website for the app keeps a private record of your workouts (if you choose to submit them) and can be linked to your Google Health account. The GPS tracking works much better than RunKeeper, and you can change the sensitivity to adjust for your phones GPS ability.

To make sure you get an accurate calorie reading, make sure you set your current weight in the settings. If you don't want this app to run in the background then just don't schedule any workouts and turn off all the reminders and notifications, it's common sense (In other words, if you set an alarm on your phone you can't get upset because the clock is running in the background!).

People complain about the permissions without using the app or using common sense. The app uses the contact list in case you want to share your workouts with other people, it lets you post them to Facebook as well, if you choose.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great program, but not the most current version November 6, 2012

I have been using this app since I first got my G1 4 years ago and it is a great workout app. However, the version in the amazon store is not the most current version. It will not work right on ice cream sandwich. There are more up to date versions of this app elsewhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great training app, few issues June 2, 2013

Wished it stored my info so when I switched phones it would have kept my past info.
Lately it has frozen up a few times when I tried to use it, but not enough to make me stop using it.
Love the bluetooth option for the polar heart monitor.
