One of the photos for this product shows the lever in the raised position and the caster ABOVE the floor. That same photo appears on the product box. However, the photo is wrong -- and worse, deceptive. When you raise the lever, the caster remains on the floor. There is no spring or other mechanism to raise the caster when you're not using it

That's is a problem if you ever need to lift your workbench higher in order to move it over a door sill or some other rough terrain. The caster will simply flop underneath the leg of the workbench so if you lowered the workbench at that point, the caster would be crushed. So you're left to do some gymnastics to reposition the loose caster with your foot so you can lower the workbench back down.

I contacted Rockler about this; their response: "The photo is in error." I consider this deceptive marketing because they had to glue/tape the caster in place to have it appear like that in the photo. That, combined with the very high price for these casters, prompted the 2-star review. The only reason I didn't give it 1 star is because this flaw may not be an issue for some customers. If you're simply moving a workbench a short distance over a perfectly flat floor, then it probably won't be too much of a problem. But the fact that the manufacturer used a doctored photo doesn't fill me with confidence about the quality of this product.

Put these on my work bench that weighs about 300lb.There easy to install and made well with good wheels. Only compliant hard to push down had to use 1x4 as leverage to release.

These workbench casters are a dream come true. I looked high and low at the big box stores and they had nothing even close to these.

I have a work table that is constructed from two 4'x8' sheets of 3/4" plywood and framed with 2"x6"'s and 4"x4"'s in the middle and on the corners and weighs 250 lbs. These casters lift this table with ease. I can now move my table anywhere in my shop with ease. This helps in cleaning the area beneath the table and I can use my work table wherever in my shop I choose.

The installation was simple and quick. 20 minutes after opening the box my casters were installed.

Great product. I would definitely recommend these casters to anyone who needs to make their workbench or worktable mobile.

used on a workbench weighing about 350 pounds. The casters are difficult to depress/engage, usually have to lift bench in order to engage caster. Once up the bench rolls easily. Heed other reviews and use larger screws. I drilled out the caster plates and used 5/16" X 2 1/2" lag bolts. Nice and sturdy now. Could find no better substitutes so while spendy, they work great.

It's a cool idea, I definetly like the ability to move my workbench around when I need to without the instability of it being on wheels all the time. But they are very very hard to release from the "wheels down" position. Be careful when releasing them because the top part snaps up quickly and could cause injury.

I purchased the casters for the workbench I just built. The bench is 6 feet wide and 24" deep and has base cabinets and a very solid 3" top with a vise. The casters allow me to wheel the bench from one end of my garage to the other easily and then simply lower it for work. I need to be able to move my tools and bench around so these casters were exactly what I needed. They are easy to install, easy to operate, and are well made. I would buy these again is a sec, and I may when I build my new router table. They may seem expensive, but trust me, they are perfect for moving around any large item on a hard floor.

Easy to install and worked as described. The only improvement would be to print a drilling templete on the package.

These work great on my workbench. I had to have something to move it around. I'd give them 5 stars because they work so well and are easy to install. Just can't do it though because they are still not really worth the price Rockler charges.
