Pete Anderson has definitely had a very positive impact on the career of Dwight Yoakam and vise-versa. Each has helped the other immeasureably. It is a credit to Dwight that while he never strays far from his Kentucky Hillbilly roots he respects musical roots and styles different to his own. In working class, Pete displays his musical tastes and backgrounds which range from rock to folk to rythym and blues, with very little similarity to the background of a Dwight Yoakam album, yet which gives you the appreciation for the talent and diversity that put these two musicians together.

Pete Anderson's initial solo album from Little Dog Records includes 11 songs, a mixture of originals and cover tunes. The title track, Working Class, would fit well in today's political climate, with jobs being shipped overseas at an alarming rate; the intrumental of Our Day Will Come, showcases the guitar talents of Mr. Anderson, quite nicely. Some of my other favorites are the musician's lament, What About Me and Blue Hour, which also prove Anderson has a great bluesy voice to go along with that awesome guitar work. Additional musicians on the album include Taras Prodaniuk, Skip Edwards and Jim E. Christie.

During his years with Dwight Yoakun Pete's idiosyncratic blues inflected playing style and production chops were a major part of what made Yoakum's music stand out. Out on his own,(with several great solo albums) Anderson's writing skills and incredibly interesting guitar style give him a very unique musical voice. If your musical taste runs the gambit from Jazz and Blues to Rock and Country, I guarantee that you will find a lot to love in Pete Anderson's music. One of a kind, NOT kinda like everybody else.
