This review is from: Working Girls (Bev Morriss 1) (Paperback)
Maureen Carter is an earthshattering discovery for me. After 9 novels she still doesn't have a publisher in the USA. Considering what kind of trash gets printed every week, it is a sad state of affairs. I recently purchased her 7 novels in the Det. Sgt Bev Morriss series, just on the lover of the British mystery hunch. And, oh brother, did I hit a jackpot.
" Working Girls " is a heartbreaking and devilishly funny novel. Strange combination, perhaps, but however else could the horrific topic of underage prostitution and the bloodcurdling violence they endure be served to the reader. Her memorable characters are lifelike. The tragedy of their lives can only be matched with their incredible courage and desire to survive. Thanks to this incredible writer, the reader stops for a moment, to not only consider ,but shed a tear or two for these lost souls.
