This review is from: Working in Hollywood (Paperback)
Seventeen years ago at a magazine I worked for, I happened to come across "Working In Hollywood", a discard on the give away table of the books editor. Little did I realize the profound impact this book would have on my life. Within its pages came the inspiration to change course and follow my own Hollywood dream. "Working In Hollywood" surveys most of the major jobs on a film production, and more than just letting you in on what each person does, it shows you that "movie people" are regular people who come from all walks of life. Each and every one has a story of how they got into the business, and you'll find them here. That aspect of "Working In Hollywood" will give anyone considering such a move both inspiration and a bit of the bravery needed to give it a try themselves. For any of you out there pondering such a step, I strongly urge you to buy this book. If that's not what you're after it's still worth reading as an exceptional overview of film craftspersons and technicians. I hope one day to see a revised edition, for now that digital technology has become a such preeminent part of film production, there are many new stories to tell about "Working In Hollywood".
