Within all the blues-rock guitarists out there, I believe that Mr. Cummings deserves to be considered as one of the best and his second album published by Blind Pig Records surely proves it. After three CDs in which the accent was stronger on the rock side of his music, this time the balance has moved towards the blues and the final result is excellent. Not a bad song to be found in here, they are all good and you will not be tempted to press the skip bottom of your CD player at any time. Up-tempo, classic Texas blues, shuffles but also slow numbers in the menu. And it is especially in the slow ones that Mr. Cummings gives his best as in "Let Me Be" and "Rumors" that for me are the two best songs of the album. I would say that Working Man is his best effort so far, so if you are already his fan you shouldn't miss a second and buy it, if you are new to Albert's music this is the best point to start from. Without any doubts a full 5 stars CD!

ALBERT CUMMINGS seemed to capture the feel of SRV very well on his previous CD and it was excellent ( even if a bit derivative ). This one is a lot less SRV and a lot more CUMMINGS. Not one dud track and a consistenly high standard throughout. Definetly one of the best of the current crop of white electric blues man. If you like the guitar and the blues, this is a must have.

No doubt AC is a guy to watch out for in years to come. Having truly enjoyed his first (real) solo CD "True to yourself", I was anxious to get my hands on "Working Man". I played it first time in continuation of "True to Yourself" and the first 4-5 tunes follows right in the same footsteps. Great sofar! The rest of the songs brings out more of AC's obvious talent, however some of the songs also bring out what seem to be a little too 'mainstream', veering off his "original" style. I consider these songs as fillers between his 'true from the heart' material. He is a great blues guitarist and singer, but I'm not sure where he is going with songs like "Feeling End", "First Day", "Last Dance", and even "I'm on my way"???? Overall the album is good enough that I can live with these filler songs, but contrary to other reviewers below, I will be hitting the "skip" button when listening to this CD. Do look forward to seeing Albert on the road somewhere in the great state of Texas sometime in the near future.

I had never heard of this guy until I heard 'Working Man Blues' on XM radio. I looked him up and have been hooked on his music ever since. I've read a lot of reviews saying that he's the next SRV. I wouldn't say that he's just another SRV copycat or even plays like him. I would say that there is a SRV influence but that's about as far as it goes. He plays a more refined style than SRV but at the same time, has the classic Texas blues basics. This is a great album but I would not limit myself to just this one. Get all of them. They are all good in their own way. This has a better mix of slow and upbeat tunes and they ALL ROCK. Not one bad song on any of his CDs. Really good no-nonsense lyrics too. This guy is gonna go places once more people hear about him.

If you like hard-rocking blues, then Albert Cummings is your man. At times he plays a fiery guitar that's reminiscent of SRV or Joe Bonamassa and at other times he has more of a jazzy sound that reminds me of Robben Ford. The last tune on this disc, Last Dance, is a slow ballad that seems out of place and doesn't work for me, but everything else is solid. Cummings' other recordings, "True to Yourself" and "From the Heart" are also highly recommended.

Albert Cummings just gets better and better. The writing, performance,

and recording quality are all very good. If you are electric blues-rock

fan, you owe it to yourself to pick up all of his CDs. Plus, catch a live

show sometime if you can. I have never seen anyone play so hard and so

long in live show. Keep it coming, Albert!

Thanks to a suggestion from Amazon I took a look at Albert's music. As is often the case I picked "Working Man" for one tune but after listening to all the tunes I find they're all great. There is a nice variety of tune styles that keeps the interest level high. Cummings has a great deal of talent/skill which would inspire any guitarist.
