5.0 out of 5 stars Mr. Cummings' best effort (so far!)
Within all the blues-rock guitarists out there, I believe that Mr. Cummings deserves to be considered as one of the best and his second album published by Blind Pig Records surely proves it. After three CDs in which the accent was stronger on the rock side of his music, this time the balance has moved towards the blues and the final result is excellent. Not a bad song to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Working Man
A good record as a whole whit several themes worthy to review, good guitar with blend of Stevie Ray Vaughan and acceptable way of singing . Good modern electric Blues and i think the two songs "Girls to shame" and "Rumors" are very good Blues. I'll continue listening ALBERT CUMMINGS, I like him.

Not a bad song to be found in here, they are all good and you will not be tempted to press the skip bottom of your CD player at any time. Up-tempo, classic Texas blues, shuffles but also slow numbers in the menu. And it is especially in the slow ones that Mr. Cummings gives his best as in "Let Me Be" and "Rumors" that for me are the two best songs of the album. I would say that Working Man is his best effort so far, so if you are already his fan you shouldn't miss a second and buy it, if you are new to Albert's music this is the best point to start from. Without any doubts a full 5 stars CD!

ALBERT CUMMINGS seemed to capture the feel of SRV very well on his previous CD and it was excellent ( even if a bit derivative ). This one is a lot less SRV and a lot more CUMMINGS. Not one dud track and a consistenly high standard throughout. Definetly one of the best of the current crop of white electric blues man. If you like the guitar and the blues, this is a must have.

Saw Albert live at a Blues festival in Mesa, AZ and he carried himself much like his album sounds. No frills, just music without an attitude. He was excellent btw. This album is not "magical" like an SRV record but it does what he intended to do which was just to play some darn good music.

If you like hard-rocking blues, then Albert Cummings is your man. At times he plays a fiery guitar that's reminiscent of SRV or Joe Bonamassa and at other times he has more of a jazzy sound that reminds me of Robben Ford. The last tune on this disc, Last Dance, is a slow ballad that seems out of place and doesn't work for me, but everything else is solid. Cummings' other recordings, "True to Yourself" and "From the Heart" are also highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Albert Cummings CD review, May 12, 2007
This review is from: Working Man (Audio CD)
Albert Cummings just gets better and better. The writing, performance,
and recording quality are all very good. If you are electric blues-rock
fan, you owe it to yourself to pick up all of his CDs. Plus, catch a live
show sometime if you can. I have never seen anyone play so hard and so
long in live show. Keep it coming, Albert!
