A Fantastic Book for Working Mothers,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Working Mother's Guide to Life: Strategies, Secrets, and Solutions (Paperback)
Highly recommended! I couldn't put it down - so informative and comprehensive, and chock full of advice and tips. I liked the personal, conversational tone the author used. Finally here's a book that's not just for "yuppie" moms but is so helpful for any mom. If you're a working mother, you need to have this book!

A very useful guide and great gift,

After buying this book for myself, I went out and bought copies for all the other working mothers in my life (as well as a couple of expectant moms). It's full of practical advise -- true to its title -- with strategies, secrets and solutions pulled from real life examples. Mason clearly has a gift for getting other mothers to reveal the truth about their struggles and how they overcame them. It's wonderful to see someone take the approach that you can work and parent at the same time -- and the advice from her own experiences and those of the others she interviewed provide practical approaches that will fit the styles of a variety of women.

This book would have been MORE helpful if I would have purchased it when I first got pregnant. I of course have purchased practically every how-to, what to do, don't-do book on pregnancy, my new baby, and working after becoming a mom book there is. My husband and friends joke with me about my newly obtained library and how it has replaced the Harry Potter and Jodi Piccoult novels I used to have time for! This book provides alot of information and at this point (9 weeks post pregnancy) it's almost too late and not worth the money to only read the portions that apply to me.

Great for New Moms -- OK for older Moms,

This review is from: The Working Mother's Guide to Life: Strategies, Secrets, and Solutions (Paperback)
Having two children ages 5 and 9, I'veread many many books about managing work and family. This book didn't add much new information. But if you're a new Mom and just starting to try and figure out day care and work/life balance issues, then it's great.

Absolutely helpful!,

As a working mother and mother of a 6 year old son, I found this book very interesting and helpful! Eventhough I'm from Mexico, and there are some cultural differences, being a mother is the same. Every time that I have the opportunity, I recommend the book.

Good book to make you think...,

This review is from: The Working Mother's Guide to Life: Strategies, Secrets, and Solutions (Paperback)
Although this book seems to be providing you with information that is 'common sense' as one reviewer noted, it definitely makes you think about the type of working mother that you are and that you want to be. It puts all the option and situations that you already know exist down on paper to help you figure out what is the best option for you. I am not through with the book quite yet, but thus far it has been helpful in reducing my anxiety about going back to work with a 14 week old newborn in daycare.

Linda Mason has done a masterful job at pulling the essential elements together for working women -- and their families -- in this highly readable field guide. Her compassion for the wide variety of challenges that working families face in keeping our children physically safe, emotionally secure, intellectually challenged and socially engaged shines through in every chapter. It belongs on the bookshelf of every family that is striving to bring up bright and happy kids. Bravo!

This is a wonderful book! Not only is Linda Mason's nonjudgmental approach to different mothering styles and support systems very refreshing, but mothers from all backgrounds will also be able to relate to the many touching and humorous stories shared by other women. I am sure my whole family will benefit from the workable suggestions about managing the morning and evening routines and getting household chores done! I would definitely recommend this book to any mother, especially if she is working or planning to go back to work in the near future.

Best Guide a Working Mom can have!,

This review is from: The Working Mother's Guide to Life: Strategies, Secrets, and Solutions (Paperback)
This book is an absolute lifesaver for a busy working FAMILY. Tips for Moms and Dads, but mostly a supportive guide for the mothers trying to do it all. I've been a working mother for 5+ years and wish Linda Mason had published this book years ago. She is a truly inspirational woman making great improvements in the childcare field. I applaude Bright Horizons, Linda and her husband for creating such a great place for kids and parents to learn, grow and be nutured. I look forward to her next book!

Finally!,

Finally! A book about parenting that doesnt make you feel guilty! It's a FUN, insightful book for REAL working Mom's. It was nice to be able to read a nonjudgemental parenting book. Ms. Mason explored the differences among mothers ( ex: those who let their kids wear batman capes to preschool and those who would never allow it!) with respect for each one. Bravo!
