This is one of the best written and best illustrated how-to books I've seen.

Hundreds of practical tips for fabrication and repair, all do-able in the home workshop.
Welding, bending, gluing, drilling, cutting, fastening.
Detailed info on the many types of plastic. As an example, there is a table showing what types of glue to use for 9 different types of plastic, when gluing to itself, wood, or metal.
