Installation is a breeze with the patented Flex-bar system and it can be painted to match your home's decor. The cut-out size for this in-wall speaker system is 5.25 x 9.125-inches and the speaker is less than three inches deep -- the perfect fit for almost any wall.

The high-efficiency design allows the HWF5 to operate on as little as 10 watts of power, but it isn't sheepish -- this little speaker can handle the heft of a wide range of home theater and stereo receivers (up to 65 watts). The speaker delivers high tones through the 0.75-inch tweeter that features a cloth dome with a Ferrofluid cooled voice coil. The 5.25-inch subwoofer features a black polypropylene cone with a rubber surround seal that delivers deep, bumpin' bass tones. This system includes a pair of speakers and is easy to install with only a few tools.

No need to clutter your walls with anything bigger! I've had no need to test them at volumes louder than a normal movie, and they sound just fine.

I researched quite a bit to find in-wall speakers that were not going to take up a huge chunk of wall. I installed these in our family room; perhaps if I had a dedicated theater room, I'd be ok to get larger speakers. As it is, these were about as cheap as I could find, and I couldn't find anything smaller that was this cheap. For the price, they're great. They came with helpful dry-wall cutout templates, so installation was as easy as it could be, considering I installed these in a finished house. If you've never run wire through drywall, you're in for a treat. Just make sure you have proper tools and it won't be too difficult (pvc/in-wall speaker cable, level, stud finder, fiberglass wire running kit or fish tape, drywall saw or oscillating multifunction tool, power drill/driver, etc). The speakers have 6 clamps for the install, and they work great: these won't budge at all once installed.

The only cons I can think of is the bevel plate is thicker than I think is necessary, but I suppose that could be a good thing for people who really rough up the drywall cutout. Also, the grills could be a finer mesh, so as to appear lighter in color (not show as much darkness behind the cover). And if you really want to get picky, the small sticker on the speaker plate can be seen through the grill if the lighting in the room is right. And they don't easily peel away without goo-gone.

But all-in-all, a fine product! Very satisfying once complete.

Used these on three different home theater projects now and are extremely happy with them. Best when used with new construction. My number one pick if you are finishing your basement.
