This 6.5-inch system delivers high fidelity sound without taking up any space. The HFW6R is designed to fill a medium-sized room with crisp sound -- perfect for adding speakers to a bedroom, kitchen, den, or family room. Installation is a breeze with the patented Roto-lock system and it can be painted to match your home's decor. The cut-out size for this in-ceiling speaker system is 8.15625-inches in diameter and the speaker is less than four inches deep -- the perfect fit for almost any ceiling.

The high-efficiency design allows the HFW6R to operate on as little as 10 watts of power, but it isn't sheepish -- this speaker can handle the heft of a wide range of home theater and stereo receivers (up to 100 watts). The speaker delivers high tones through the 0.75-inch tweeter that features a cloth dome with a Ferrofluid cooled voice coil. The 6.5-inch subwoofer features a black polypropylene cone with a rubber surround seal that delivers deep, bumpin' bass tones. This system includes a pair of speakers and is easy to install with only a few tools.

Although the speakers look and sound great, I had difficulty with the "simple" installation. The screws used to secure the speakers to the wall/ceiling were not long enough to get clearence for the "wings" to open behind the wall/ceiling surface. I had to get longer screws and then it installed just fine.

In shopping for in-ceiling speakers for our Sonos system, I came across HiFi Works. Since their parent company (Sonance) did high custom installation speakers, I figured I would give them a shot. We installed this speaker pair in our bedroom. They sound great for the price. Even the bass response was better than I had expected.

Installation was a snap. Cut the holes (I used a spin saw with a circle attachment--it cut a perfect hole), ran the wire, connected the speakers, placed them and tighten the screws, replaced the grills. Done.

I plan on putting these speakers in the kitchen, guest room, garage, and dining room; the 5.25 inch speakers in the bathroom; four 8 inch speakers in the living; and their rock speakers in the backyard.

cut out is actually 7 5/8", not the 8.15" listed in the description. Since I needed to fill an existing cut out, this difference was unacceptable.
