This CD is a real gem, a very good collection of Parry's brilliant works. I love Parry's original version of Jerusalem. If memory serves, Parry wrote the melody and added the words by William Blake (from Blake's poem), and later, Edward Elgar re-scored the piece for a large orchestra, creating a version of it that most are familiar with. This version is the original with a female vocalist and it is gorgeous. I have heard many recordings of Jerusalem and this one will no doubt become one of my favourites.

These soldiers on the cover match the mood of this recording--bright and festive, and wallowing in pre-war Britishness. The early solo version of "Jerusalem" is probably the most moving of the works recorded, but it's all good fun and well performed.
