Henry Scougal's writings are inspiring,

I was made aware of Henry Scougal's writings through John Piper's lofty reccomendation in his book "The Pleasures of God". Piper gained several insights through reading Scougal. One truth, Piper found instrumental through Scougal is his statement that "the excellency of a soul is measured by the object of its love."
I found Scougal's writings stimulating and his prose beautiful. It is a high quality book well worth reading. I found the book to be intellectually as well as spiritually stimulating. In our day this book is greatly needed to temper the prevailing tenor of our culture. |
