4.0 out of 5 stars A super value!, August 22, 2009

This review is from: Works of William Shakespeare. ILLUSTRATED. Incl: Romeo and Juliet , Hamlet, Macbeth, Othello, Julius Caesar, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Tempest, Julius ... King Lear, Twelfth Night & more (mobi) (Kindle Edition)
This is a review of the Mobile complete works of Shakespeare for the Kindle. Now, of course I'm not going to review Shakespeare! I'm not so presumptuous as that. This is just a review of the Kindle version.
It's wonderful! It has all the plays and poems, with an active table of contents that will take you straight to any scene in the play. It's formatted beautifully, though if you're reading it on the K2 you're going to have to make the print smaller than you like in order to get the lines all on one line and not badly broken up. This is not a problem for me, but it might be for someone with vision problems. Even with the lines broken up, though, you soon get used to it.
There are no introductions or footnotes here, but you would not expect them. This is a "bare bones" Shakespeare, and reading w/o footnotes is actually a valuable learning experience. You are forced to really study passages you don't quite get, and this brings you into more intimate contact with the text.
The only problem I have is a lack of line numbers. That's not a huge issue, but it would be nice to be able to find favorite passages by line as well as act and scene.
Overall, a tremendous value.

5.0 out of 5 stars profusely illustrated Kindle edition, October 10, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Works of William Shakespeare. Illustrated Collection. Includes Romeo and Juliet , Hamlet, Macbeth, Twelfth Night, As You Like It, Julius Caesar, A Midsummer ... biography & play in the trial version.

Kindle edition has really rekindled my enthusiasm for Shakespeare. Having Shakespeare's texts in one place allows me to flip quickly to another play to look something up or spot cross-connections. That can be very interesting. In short, this profusely illustrated edition has truly enriched my reading of Shakespeare.

5.0 out of 5 stars For Real Shakespeare Lovers, August 7, 2010

This review is from: Works of William Shakespeare. ILLUSTRATED. Incl: Romeo and Juliet , Hamlet, Macbeth, Othello, Julius Caesar, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Tempest, Julius ... King Lear, Twelfth Night & more (mobi) (Kindle Edition)
Shakespeare's work hardly needs my commentary. Aside from being a true romantic and a captivating poet, Shakespeare could also pass as being a psychological genius. Shakespearean drama explores every facet of the human condition in a remarkable way and leaves you astonished at Shakespeare's genius.
This wonderful ebook is rich with illustrations. The more I examine its contents, the more valuable this collection appears, at least, to me. This ebook will please real Shakespeare lovers and would make a valuable addition to an ebook library.
