5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Video
This is a great video. It shows the drama and excitement of the World Series. Especially the dramatic Game 6 and 7. And Jesse Orosco throwing his glove in the air and I bet it is still up in the air.

1.0 out of 5 stars Extremely disappointing
I'm a huge Mets fan and was really excited to watch the highlight film to relive my childhood memories, but this video is poorly produced and falls way short of expectations as I don't think they had the rights to most of the TV broadcasts, therefore you get none of the commentary from the actual games.

1.0 out of 5 stars Extremely disappointing, June 9, 2005
This review is from: The World Series 1986: New York Mets v. Boston Red Sox (DVD)
I'm a huge Mets fan and was really excited to watch the highlight film to relive my childhood memories, but this video is poorly produced and falls way short of expectations as I don't think they had the rights to most of the TV broadcasts, therefore you get none of the commentary from the actual games.

Instead half of the video is of the fans reactions in the crowd, poor camera angles (most of the hitting clips are from the side angle like if you wanted to see if there was a check swing) and even a few shots of a PanAm flight as they call the 86 series, the Shuttle Series?!?! There are only a few sound bites from the actual players and the rest is Vin Scully narration which is always solid but I would have liked more from the players and actual commentators - you don't even get the classis call on Mookie's grounder. Take a pass on this video...

1.0 out of 5 stars Series was Great but Video falls way short., October 22, 2005

This is basic stuff. They screwed it up.Show the highlights with the actual announcers calling the actual plays and just sit back and enjoy, right? Not here in this video.Poor very poor.I thank God that I recorded these games then.Even when they play these games back on ESPN Classic and the like they cut out some of the nuances of the games. To hear Vin Scully call a game, well I wish he was still doing it these days for the big games. He's one of a kind.A Poet. One particular line he used that night of Game 6 "If a picture says a thousand words, you have just seen a million","Not only are the Mets alive, they are well and there will be a Game 7"Nuff said.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable Series, September 25, 2002
By
This is one of the most incredible comebacks that I ever watched "live" in baseball. When I think back on it, it is still incredible and unbelievable. All that I really remember was that the METS kept playing in that one fateful inning and showed no signs of giving up at the plate. The blame placed one RED SOX player in particular for losing that game and ultimately the Series was really uncalled for. For me it was the series of events in that one inning that I often like to relive and examine. It still remains unbelievable no matter how many times I watch it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A New York baseball team that didn't buy a Championship!, May 11, 2005
This review is from: The World Series 1986: New York Mets v. Boston Red Sox (DVD)
1986 World Series: New York Mets vs. Boston Red Sox. One of the all time classic World Series. The Mets were down to their final out in Game 6 when they began their historic rally. The Bill Buckner play gets all the hype but, what about the three consecutive 2 out singles or Shiraldi's wild pitch? Great drama! A classic Series even though Game 7 is somewhat anti climatic.

Too bad they didn't include the NLCS versus the Houston Astros as that was one for the ages as well

2.0 out of 5 stars falling way short, November 22, 2004
This video fell way short of my expectations. The drama and excitement of the series was lost due to continuous 3rd party narration instead of the live "play by play" coverage. Also, camera shots from the dugout that show home runs by Carter and Henderson along with other clutch hits just don't do it for me. Disappointing.

Want to make a Red Sox fan angry and physically ill at the same time? Say "A little roller up along first . . . behind the bag . . . it gets through Buckner! Here comes Knight! And the Mets win it!" in your best Vin Scully impression.

This is a classic 7 game slugfest. The best game was game six when Bill Buckner helped the Mets win.
