5.0 out of 5 stars "That's not the Goodrich carp....Goodrich doesn't have a carp!"
So what if there's no socially biting commentary? How many comics contain that?
Even if you don't have to plug a block heater into your car between Halloween & Easter, even if you don't own a plaid Mackinaw, if you have a tendency to peep out a the passing panoply of life slightly cockeyed, there's something weird here for you. ("It's too early too pick up chicks...

3.0 out of 5 stars The cartoons lack a significant bite of social sarcasm
I do not rank this collection of cartoons among the highest in quality, satire or humor. They are good, but lack the social bite or sarcasm that most the best cartoons have. ("It's too early too pick up chicks. May as well go ice fishing.")

If you want social commentary, go check out Walt Kelly's Pogo, Doonesbury, or even 1960's vintage Al Capp. If you think there are WMDs in Iraq, see Mallard Fillmore

BTW, if you enjoy Dick Guindon's 'toons, check out Jerry van Amerongen's six "The Neighborhood" books, or his more recent Ballard Street.

Many are based on the presence of a carp, a rough river fish that the sarcastic refer to as "sewer bass." The incongruous natures of having a fish float in the sky as a blimp; wearing carp on your feet or sending a carp as a gift are a bit humorous. The remaining contain some social commentary, but lack a quality point that grabs and holds you.
