This review is from: The World According to Gore: The Incredible Vision of the Man Who Should be President (Paperback)
A handy and insightful overview of everything Gore-ish. Neatly organized into various topics: climate crisis; the 2000 Presidential race; Hollywood; technology; the media; George Bush's Reign of Lies, Terror, and Fear; Running for President Again; and others. Very readable, very lively, very engaging, and not at all ponderous or preachy. Editor Katovsky's introduction gets to the heart of the matter: Here's a guy, Gore, who won the popular vote in 2000; and but for the Supreme Court's dubious intervention, we would now have a different leader in office. Oh, what might have been! Gore has evolved since that debacle, and we gain a sense of his unofficial statesman-like influence on American political culture--in fact, most of the quotes post-date 2000 and are very up-to-date. The book is extremely timely right now: lots of folks have been mobilizing into a "draft Gore" movement. Even if that movement ultimately fails, this book will stand as a lasting testimony to the road not taken. That's not necessarily a reason for despair but, rather, an occasion to see that the march of history is not pre-scripted or written in stone.
