Beautiful and Sad,
By olivehprouty (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: World After History (Audio CD)
I first heard Boris Kovac's music on the radio show "The World," and I bought this CD soon after. I'm glad I did. It is my favorite CD of the many I bought in 2005.
It is hard to categorize this music. Boris Kovac has a style all his own, I think. The band consists of saxophone, accordion, strings, clarinet, with occasional vocals. It's romantic tango and klezmer and sad gypsy music all balled up into one. Really mesmerizing. This is probably my favorite of his CDs, although I enjoy his others, too, especially Ballads at the End of Time.
