World Almanac A Haven of Useful Facts,
By Claxton Graham (claxton.graham@firstunion.com) (Charlotte, North Carolina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The World Almanac and Book of Facts 1998 (Paperback)
I have bought a copy of The World Almanac every year since 1988...To me, it's money well spent, because nearly every fact and figure you'll ever need is right at your fingertips...Within a year, I wear my own copy out...I use it on the job and at home for quick reference, settling debates, and even just for leisure reading. It's easy to use, and it's a heck of a lot cheaper than updating encyclopedias!! The World Almanac is a definite must for any bookshelf...

Typeface Problems in 1998 Paperback Edition,
By A Customer
This review is from: The World Almanac and Book of Facts 1998 (Paperback)
Although "The World Almanac" is still an indispensable source of information, the 1998 paperback edition seems to have some printing anomalies: on many pages, the letters appear to have been printed with an inadequate dot-matrix design, leaving the text rough and hard on the eyes. Many thanks to the Almanac for preserving the paper edition's extremely reasonable cover price ("still only $9.95"), but I wonder if price is being maintained at the expense of quality. I hope the Almanac will fix its typeface problem, even if the price must rise: I for one would gladly pay more for a paper edition that is crisply printed. |
