1 year old loves this book!,
By A Customer
This review is from: World Around Me - Ocean (Baby Einstein) (Board book)
This is so great! It doesn't take up much space, so you can pack it on vacation, yet it unfolds to become a nice size book/toy. My son loves it, my only complaint is that the book is now held together by tape, as he has torn apart nearly every page. It would be great if the pages were held together with a tougher material, I'm sure he isn't the only kid who is tough on his books.

A Wonderful Book for my 2-year old,
By Ken Tan (Singapore) - See all my reviews
This review is from: World Around Me - Ocean (Baby Einstein) (Board book)
This is a very good book to introduce sea creatures to my 2-year old son. He learnt the names of all these creatures in a short period of time. The book has short phrases that he is also begining to pick up as I point and read to him regularly.
The book could be unfolded and set up into a small round barricade for him to look around the "ocean" in a 360 view. There are real photos of the various creatures on the other side of the book for him to learn and associate the nicely illustrated cartoon creatures to the real ones. A must have for stimulating baby learning and engaging yourself in the process!

My 18-month-old son's current favorite,

This review is from: Baby Einstein: Baby Galileo The World Around Me - Sky (Board book)
I initially purchased this book thinking it would be a good thing to bring along on plane trips with my toddler son. I really just bought it because my son loves the Baby Galileo character- I didn't even notice the listed dimensions or the fact that it was an unfolding book.
At 12 by 11 inches (collapsed), the book is far too large to use on the plane (oops!) but my son loves it nonetheless. It can be read as a traditional book; each page has some text briefly describing the images in the picture above. [Note: A couple of the reviews posted here mention sea life and sea creatures... there is no sea life at all in this book. The book is about things in the sky: stars, planets, clouds, birds, bees, etc. They must have been reviewing a different title.] There are tons of creatures and things scattered across the pages, in relevant settings. My son has already learned a few new words from it. One thing that's nice is that there is often more than just one image of a particular item, say a leaf or a bee. It's fun to ask my son "where's a bee?" And see him look around and identify all the bees he can find. When completely unfolded, you can arrange the book so that it stands in a big circle around your child. (My son prefers it to be more of a rectangular pen than a circle.) The unfolded book has two sides- one with Baby-Einstein-styled illustrations and narrative text, the other with photographs of celestial objects and their names. My son enjoys looking at both sides. I recommend that you keep the book in a safe place and only let your child use it when supervised. This is more than just a book- it's an experience; a toy. My son loves to re-arrange it, and frequently attempts to climb over and under it in order to see the other side and to retrieve toys to bring with him into the enclosure. Although the book is much more durable than, say, a Pat the Bunny title, we have already had to tape two of the pages back together, and anticipate having to perform more such repairs in the near future.

My son loved this item! When we encircled him with the "World Around Me," for the first time (at 7.5 months), he laughed and spun around. He loved it. He lit up like a Christmas tree! It is as if he is "inside the book" looking at all the different pictures and words. He gets to go to the part he likes best (the tree with the owl) and not just the pages of a book. I wish there were more of these types of "books."
It was probably one of the best purchases I have ever made for my son. The only problem is that my son likes to get up close to the "pages" of the item and he wants to support himself on it. He really wants to interact with the pages. It really doesn't support an 18+ lb baby - not that it is supposed to. You really need to keep an eye on the infant while it is being used. It has collapsed on him on occasions (no injuries!) and it is ripping a little.

This book was wonderful for my son when he was a baby! I would stand the book up in a circle around him, lay him on his belly and he would scoot around looking at the book. He just loved it! I've given this book to all new mommies and their children love it. He even loved it as he was learnign to walk. We would lay it on the ground and he would "walk" to his favorite page. It is a must have for all

My child liked the book and its colors but it ripped the first day we had it!! He is only 1 and ripped it along the page fold, so nice book, poorly constructed

This book is pretty good. It goes along with the Baby Galileo DVD. It opens up to form a circle that your baby can sit in the middle of. One side has Baby Einstein pictures and a story, and the other side has real photos of planets and other things in the sky and universe. My daughter already had the Baby Neptune - Oceans book similar to this and liked that one much better, the pictures were more colorful and there was more to look at. She hasn't seemed too interested in this one though. I don't think there's enough pictures and interesting things to look at in this book. She's already 2 so maybe it's a better book for a 1-yr old.

My son is 15 months old and he LOVES this book! Since we got it several months, he grabbed the book and it has been his favorite book ever since. He pulls this book from his basket almost daily and loves to put it around him. My son has learned sea animals because of this book!!! This book is so cute and entertaining. I'm on the lookout for more just like it. We are fans of the Baby Einstein products!
