5.0 out of 5 stars Sex and Blood...what more could you possibly want?
I'll be blunt, i liked this book for the following reasons: lots o' blood, no big angsty loser woe is me Lestat-esque vamps, no immortal mindreading bloodsucking fiends, orgies like every third page, easy to read, and has a level of believability (is that a word?).

It was a refreshing twist on the vampire myth, and certainly a more believable one at that...

2.0 out of 5 stars A book about addicts
This book is really about addicts. The main difference being instead of getting high on alchol or drugs - they get high on blood. In the beginning of the book some of the "vampires" are trying to give up blood in an AA type arrangement. They self destruct from within and from there on it's all down hill.

I found this a depressing book full of very self...

It was a refreshing twist on the vampire myth, and certainly a more believable one at that. This book is compared to Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, but they're -extremely- different and I see no means for comparison. But mind you, I personally prefered The World on Blood to Rice's work that i've read (i've been stuck in the middle of Queen of the Damned for about a year now). *shrugs*

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly new look on the word of vampires and witches., October 26, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The World on Blood (Paperback)
This book was truely amazing. After reading it several times, I still get the urge to reach for it, even though I happen to have a stack of unread books else where. Jonathan Nasaw surely has something which most people seem to lack these days. He's creative and imaginative, yet manages to keep his feet on the ground, allowing a new and exciting look on vampires and witches to emerge. Nasaw's words are truely spell binding. The irony of the plot also grabs at the readers attention, further creating the title of a 'page turner'. 'The World on Blood' is best described as: 'Beautifully written, wildly satisfying, has something for everyone.' -Fangoria

5.0 out of 5 stars Nasaw offers a great new twist on an age old tale., July 8, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The World on Blood: 8 (Hardcover)
In The World On Blood Jonathan Nasaw offers us a compelling, tightly written tale of contemporary vampire life. Funny, thought provoking and downright sexy Nasaw's book takes the reader on a wild ride from the darkside of the Bay Area on to Tahoe and finally to the Caribbean and back.
Along the way Nick finds himself in a moral battle of good and evil as he struggles to maintain his sobriety from blood, prepare for fatherhood and save his 12 Step group, Vampires Anonymous, from a collective relapse.
Not for the timid or faint of heart, this book contains well-written, but graphic, scenes of ritualistic group sex, murder and wiccan rites.

5.0 out of 5 stars Humorous, sexy thought provoking book, January 8, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The World on Blood (Paperback)
When I began reading this book, I couldn't help but to laugh. After I realized that I was meant to be amused, I greatly enjoyed reading it. I expected a book that was a bit more serious, more in the Anne Rice vain, but was very pleasantly surprised by The World on Blood. James Whistler is my favorite hero/villan since Lestat and Nick Santos was great in the battle of good against evil. I am anxiously awaiting the sequel, and plan to make it last a little longer. I read The World on Blood in one day at the beach.

I found this a depressing book full of very self indulgent characters. In the end I didn't really care what happened to them. Let them overdose on blood and make the world a better place. Nasty I know, but that's the effect this book had on me.

It gets 2 stars for an original idea, but I wouldn't read any more about these people again given the choice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deliciously sexy, June 28, 2000
This review is from: The World on Blood (Paperback)
I first read this book 2 years ago, I found it amaxing then and I still do b/c I've read it numerous times since then. This is a wonderfully written book that makes me drool everytime I read it. If this book doesn't turn you on, you're insane. I found it wildly entertaining. Jonathan Nasaw sure does know a lot about drugs though, which I find quite refreshing, since older people (not implying he's old or anything!) nowadays have such a narrow-minded view of drugs. It's an awesome novel!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!, November 11, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The World on Blood (Paperback)
I was buying sunblock last year on my way to South Carolina for a week-long vacation when I realized that I had nothing to read on the beach! I was walking past the cheesy paperback shelf in the drug store when I accidentally picked up this book. I figured it was going to be another one of the endless bad vampire books I have read in my life but to my surprise it was thought-provoking and intense, the characters so well written that the reader is drawn into the life of almost every single one of them. I could not believe how good this book was! And what a stroke of genius it was by Nasaw to combine witches and vampires in the same saga. When I got to the end I read it again from the start and enjoyed it even more than I did the first time. I can't wait to read the sequel!

5.0 out of 5 stars An interesting concept., August 8, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The World on Blood (Paperback)
This book brought a new, fresh, and modern outlook on the idea of vampires. And it also added an element of eroticism. I thought it was a great book and enjoyed it throughly. I liked the idea that they were actually just humans with a condition. Buy this book. You will enjoy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blame it on Genetics, October 31, 1996
By A Customer
This review is from: The World on Blood: 8 (Hardcover)
Though often producing a sarcastic smile, this new novel
introduces a not-until-now perspective on what makes a vampire:
genetics. If nothing else, the novel provides a completely
alternative view from the vampire v. human condition of most modern
sympathetic vampire novels. A nice change of pace.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book will leave you wanting more., October 22, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The World on Blood (Paperback)
Jonathan Nasaw shows vampires in a light they have never been seen in before. The vampires in his world are more realistic than ever. Nasaw shows the true meaning of addiction. This book has some of the best written characters. The story of Nick and Whistler will captivate anyone. I don't think I have ever found a more perfect love than Lourdes and Whistler. I could not put it down. Nasaw is extremely successful in portraying vampires in their naturally enchanting way. His scenes are very descriptive and provative. Some of the party scenes even made me blush. Never before have vampires appeared sexier or more alluring. It made me want to go out and drink blood. Althought this book is not for the faint of heart, I would definately recommend it to anyone who wants to experience something new and enchanting. It will leave you wanting more. This is without a doubt the best vampire novel I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing.
