Product Description

Style Name: Bowl | Size: 11-1/2-Ounce 20 Count

Disposable, compostable and biodegradable bowls made from 100-percent bagasse, the sugarcane fiber that remains after extracting the juice from the sugarcane. Sugarcane is not only a readily renewable resource, but the sugarcane fiber can be turned into products normally made from plastic and paper and prevents the pollution from the normal burning of sugarcane waste after juice extraction. Our biodegradable bowls are soak proof, have no plastic or wax lining, and can be used for both hot and cold items. Please note, that though these compostable bowls are soak proof, hot items will cause the bowls to "perspire" and some condensation will form at the bottom of the bowls. A far superior alternative to styrofoam & plastic (non-biodegradable, petroleum derived, pollutant) and as well as paper bowls made from cutting down trees. We now offer "unbleached" bagasse bowls - in natural light brown color. Bleaching is usually unnecessary, creates pollution, and is mostly done using chlorine or chlorine compounds, which release "dioxins" - persistent organic pollutants which do not break down easily and accumulate in the food stream. We are slowly moving towards only carrying "unbleached" bagasse items as they become available to us. Please note, composting is required for biodegradation and these compostable plates will biodegrade within 30 days in a commercial composting facility, and within 90 days in a home composting system.

These were on super clearance on amazon, so I ordered some to try them out. I was shocked at how thin they are. They're almost as thin as 2 of those cheapo paper plates that always stick together. Far thinner than styrofoam or those natural potato-based plates and bowls.

They work well for about 15 minutes or so with liquids or hot foods, but then they start to get soggy. If you're going to be done in 15 minutes they'll work well, but if you have a bowl soup or something and then set it down and forget about it, you might come back to a mess of soup all over the table/floor.

I'd buy them again at the insanely cheap price I paid, since they were practically free, but the standard retail price is obscenely high.

These are great forks. Compostable, durable, and very nice as disposable forks go. That said, I found them today for $2.99 at Whole Foods. If you're buying multiple boxes, it's probably worth a trip to your grocery store.

I probably will sound a bit strange, but I really love these disposable utensils. So much so, that I reuse them over and over and have also purchased several sets.

These are great because:
- The spoons scoop up just the perfect amount of food for toddler and adult alike. I dislike most toddler utensils because the spoons barely hold anything to constitute as 'food'. I love these because they are the perfect size for tasting spoons for when I cook. This leaves my real silverware for setting the table.
- The forks are great because (again) it actually holds food onto it without the ends being super sharp, which is super important for me as a parent. Again, I dislike most toddler forks because they often barely hold any food or don't have enough depth to pierce the food. These forks minimize the mess on the floor at mealtimes.
- The knives (even) are great. They have a great strength without it being long / thick. And most grocery stores carry uber-expensive (e.g., diamond weight) disposable utensils or super cheap utensils that are just as useless as toddler silverware.

These utensils by World Centric are so great - PLUS, they are environmentally friendly. I use these till they drop (er, break - as a few of my spoons have snapped), but I love them so much that I use them for my instant coffee, sugar, etc.

I know, I sound weird for gushing about disposable 'ware, but try these and you will not go back!

My company started using these a while back and they are as sturdy as a disposable fork as I have ever used. Great product

To begin, these are certainly a better alternative to full on plastic. I was looking to use these for a large picnic and needed a couple of boxes. I used them along with their compostable plates, and thought I was on the right track. What went wrong was when they arrived. First, they are made in China. I guess I had hoped that for the cost (about $7 for 24 spoons) that I would at least get made in the USA. But no. Then the more difficult issue - the "compostable" part is only if used in a commerical grade compost center. So do I have this in my backyard? No! I have a little home composter that would never allow this to break down. AND the package says it will take 6 months in that condition! So I am hugely disappointed, and will not buy again.

What I really need to do is go to a garage sale and get some real spoons and just save them until my picnic next year.

As a side note? I thought I could only buy these here on Amazon. Not at all true - I ended up needing more and found them at Whole Foods....at half the price too!

Soaks up whatever liquid you put in it, and transfers it to whatever the bowl happens to be placed on. Would be fine for dry foods, but a poor choice for soups.
