Product Description

Disposable, compostable and biodegradable bowls made from 100-percent bagasse, the sugarcane fiber that remains after extracting the juice from the sugarcane. Sugarcane is not only a readily renewable resource, but the sugarcane fiber can be turned into products normally made from plastic and paper and prevents the pollution from the normal burning of sugarcane waste after juice extraction. Our biodegradable bowls are soak proof, have no plastic or wax lining, and can be used for both hot and cold items. Please note, that though these compostable bowls are soak proof, hot items will cause the bowls to "perspire" and some condensation will form at the bottom of the bowls. A far superior alternative to styrofoam & plastic (non-biodegradable, petroleum derived, pollutant) and as well as paper bowls made from cutting down trees. We now offer "unbleached" bagasse bowls - in natural light brown color. Bleaching is usually unnecessary, creates pollution, and is mostly done using chlorine or chlorine compounds, which release "dioxins" - persistent organic pollutants which do not break down easily and accumulate in the food stream. We are slowly moving towards only carrying "unbleached" bagasse items as they become available to us. Please note, composting is required for biodegradation and these compostable plates will biodegrade within 30 days in a commercial composting facility, and within 90 days in a home composting system.

These were on super clearance on amazon, so I ordered some to try them out. I was shocked at how thin they are. They're almost as thin as 2 of those cheapo paper plates that always stick together. Far thinner than styrofoam or those natural potato-based plates and bowls.

They work well for about 15 minutes or so with liquids or hot foods, but then they start to get soggy. If you're going to be done in 15 minutes they'll work well, but if you have a bowl soup or something and then set it down and forget about it, you might come back to a mess of soup all over the table/floor.

I'd buy them again at the insanely cheap price I paid, since they were practically free, but the standard retail price is obscenely high.

These are great forks. Compostable, durable, and very nice as disposable forks go. That said, I found them today for $2.99 at Whole Foods. If you're buying multiple boxes, it's probably worth a trip to your grocery store.

To begin, these are certainly a better alternative to full on plastic. I was looking to use these for a large picnic and needed a couple of boxes. I used them along with their compostable plates, and thought I was on the right track. What went wrong was when they arrived. First, they are made in China. I guess I had hoped that for the cost (about $7 for 24 spoons) that I would at least get made in the USA. But no. Then the more difficult issue - the "compostable" part is only if used in a commerical grade compost center. So do I have this in my backyard? No! I have a little home composter that would never allow this to break down. AND the package says it will take 6 months in that condition! So I am hugely disappointed, and will not buy again.

What I really need to do is go to a garage sale and get some real spoons and just save them until my picnic next year.

As a side note? I thought I could only buy these here on Amazon. Not at all true - I ended up needing more and found them at Whole Foods....at half the price too!

Absolutely terrible bags.
First one I tried to pull off the roll ripped in half.
Second attempt ripped both that bag and the one it was attached too.
I now have 9 bags left all connected that I'm scared to attempt to separate and a pile of 3 bags I can throw in my compost!

Excellent work World Centric!

Really, how could you release such a horrible product to the public? Did you do absolutely no testing yourself?

Will def break down in your compost pile though

The only reason this review lists one star is since no star was not an option.

The product we received was completely unusable. The bags were so flimsy and brittle that they fell apart while trying to put them in the trash container.

I am not sure how you could possible get any of the intended use out of it. Do not buy them. Or buy them and find out for yourself, they can not be used as intended.

Ok price, ok bowl. My problem with it is that the page says soak proof but the bowl does not say soak proof anywhere. So why do they think it's soak proof. I don't really want to waste a bowl or make a mess to test it. Either way even if it is soak resistant they shouldn't claim that if the company who made it doesn't even advertise it on the bowls. The materila is rough not smooth just an fyi

I love these utensils. The spoons and forks are smaller than normal but proportioned well. The knives work which is more than I can say about some plastic-ware. These are REALLY sturdy & I re-use them several times. They are not paper (cornstarch) but their bowls & plates are wheat straw & can not be cleaned. (Note that the utensils are often cheaper elsewhere @$2.99/24pcs.)

This product is super cool. We used at holiday party. The utensils upheld to hot soup, lasagna, meatballs and sauce, etc. Super sturdy and conscious friendly.
