I have been a professional speaker for 10 years. Although my speaking skills have improved substantially in that time, my speaking business has struggled because I didn't know the marketing end of the business. Other speaking books [I've read about 60] do not address this problem - World Class Speaking does. In a step-by-step, easy to implement format, Craig teaches you how to get your 'marketing machine' rolling. This information will quickly put you ahead of most speakers.

I got this book along with several others on speaking not quite knowing what to expect. The other books are collecting dust and this one is my reference every time I sit down to work on a speech. It has helped me tremendously. In fact, I have recommended it to several people now who also swear by it.

The first half is all about speech writing and how to tell a story effectively and just loads of practical tips on how to get your message across. The second half is all about marketing. All in all, this book should be in every new speaker's library. Maybe even some experienced speakers too as I think most folks will learn loads from this book.

In fact, I like this book so much, that instead of loaning mine out to a dear friend. I sent her one as a gift instead!

"When you are in speaking you are in sales." This is just one lesson of many that I learned from reading "World Class Speaking." World class speaking is actually two books in one. You get powerful content that covers both the speaking and marketing end of the business. You can be a great speaker but only by being a great marketer will you be able sell yourself, get more speaking opportunities and as Craig valentine says "Get Standing Invitations."

In chapter three "How to develop content that keeps them thirsting for more" Craig Valentine outlines his "PARTS" formula. When you use the "PARTS" Formula you are guaranteed to always have great content and structure and most importantly lasting impressions for your speeches.

On page 62 in the last sentence of the 1st paragraph Craig States "Here is something that you should always remembers about the Art of Speaking - What is loose is lost." For me, this was a big lesson. Imagine that you just gave a great speech. You got a great applause. You left the stage. You went home and your audience went home. But will they remember your message a week, a month or even a year after your left the platform?

When you use Craig Valentine's "PARTS" Formula your audience will remember your message a week a month or even years later. World Class Speaking is a must have for ALL people! I was introduced to this book by a dear friend who happens to be a Certified World Class Speaking Coach and I have to say, WOW! The material is an easy read and so eye-opening! Whether you are a sales professional, elected official, or just someone who wants to be the best speaker that they can be, this book is a must have for your personal library. It is a tool that will keep you ahead of the game regardless of the industry.

Awesome! This brilliantly developed book aids the shy in becoming public speakers, while also assisting accomplished speakers in becoming interesting and arresting in their presentations.

Do you ever wonder how speakers put their talks together? As a presenter, do you struggle with lesson preparation? Do you want a system that can help you prepare lessons that connect with people? If you answer yes to any of these questions, either or both of these books will be helpful and useful to you.

Last year I read World Class Speaking by Craig Valentine and Mitch Meyerson. Meyerson provides some information about marketing yourself as a speaker and building an online system for doing such, but the meat of the book is Valentine's instruction about the nuts-and-bolts of speaking.

Craig Valentine is a "world champion of public speaking" through Toastmasters and has identified a clear system that can help any speaker create an idea and move it forward to a full-blown keynote speech. He lays this system out in his book. The book is organized around three parts that focus on building your speech, generating leads, and building an information business through your speaking.

The heart of the book, for me, is Part I, "How to Master the Art of Public Speaking." In four chapters, Craig covers general speaking tips, speech-structure, content development, and stage presence and delivery. His chapters are well-written and filled with examples that illustrate his point and hints to help you put these concepts into practice in your own speaking.

The final two Parts have more to do with marketing and business and are probably more useful for professional speakers than preachers (which I am), though I was able to apply some of the concepts to my blog and social media strategies.

I'm using Craig's 9 Step Structure Model to develop my sermons and have been rewarded with several comments about the clarity of these lessons. It's a useful approach and well worth investing in by buying this book.

Mr. Valentine touched on all the essentials a speaker needs. It is is easy to read with great examples. He writes like he is speaking directly to you.

After I read this book, I was fortunate enough to meet Craig and hear him speak. Not only does he practice what he writes, not only does he teach what he writes, but he is absolutely fantastic as a speaker and trainer.

As a Toastmaster myself, I have been consistently working to improve my speaking, and where Toastmasters shaves years off of your learning curve, Craig's methods in this book will take you to the next level. Plus, if speaking for a living is what you want to do, this book will also cut significant time off of that learning curve as well.

Like another person who posted a review, this book took me a while to get through, because there was so much I wanted to try as I went through it. After reading it, I have used it multiple times as a reference when developing presentations.

If you're thinking about a book to help you as a speaker, or for a speaking career, make this your first book!

Okay, I can't get through this book but I don't want to wait any longer to write a review. I can't get through the book because each chapter moves me to action, so I have to stop reading and go write, edit or present a speech! Craig Valentine motivated me to move forward with my new speaking career after seeing him at a "Lady and the Champs" seminar in Las Vegas so I was eager to read his book. I never dreamed he could be as motivating and inspirational through the written word as he is in person, but he absolutely is.



In the first chapter, he advised, "Don't speak for standing ovations; speak for standing invitations." That took a tremendous burden off my shoulders and gave me one of those aha moments. I found myself writing a new speech, and on top of that, someone who attended my last presentation called the next day to book me to speak to her managers. His advice on structuring a speech is unbelievably helpful. And all his advice is doable, sensible and makes a significant difference. If, like me, you have wanted to be a speaker, have great information and experiences to share, but have found yourself procrastinating for various--and sometimes unknown--reasons, read Craig Valentine's World Class Speaking. Just make sure you're ready to move, because you won't be able to just sit there thinking about speaking any longer!
