not all extended versions,

This review is from: World of Dance: New Wave- The 80's (Audio CD)
I bought this CD because the other compilations in this series (by Rebound Records) do include a lot of 12" versions. This one mostly contains ablum versions, though. Here's the correct track list and track lengths:
1) Relax (album version) 3:57 2) Venus (a bad re-edit of the album version with some measures repeated) 4:26 3) Something About You (Pettibone Extended Remix) 5:48 4) She Blinded Me With Science (Edit - this isn't even the full album version) 3:43 5) Shoud (album version edit - shortened by 30 seconds) 5:59 6) Let Me Go (album version?) 4:17 7) Vacation (album version) 3:01 8) The Look Of Love (1990 Remix - from the Absolutely greatest hits album) 4:39 9) Obsession (Dance Mix edit - shortended by 30 seconds) 5:37 10) The Politics of Dancing (extended version?) 6:35 11) Tainted Love (1991 Extended Remix - from the Memorabilia greatest hits album) 5:54 12) Come On Eileen (edit without the violin intro) 4:00

As soon as i heard these songs i went back in time, back in time to when i felt carefree, (i'm 29) and was excited about music from that decade, and i always make sure i play songs like these in my car VERY LOUD!

This CD contains "extended club versions" of the many of the tracks, including Tainted Love and a few others. While this can be ideal for dancing, which is the purpose of this series, it doesn't allow the track to flow as well as it's Single version, which is what most complilations consist of. Don't pay too much for this disc. There are much better compilations out there.

The great thing about this c.d. 80's pop-new-wave hits package is that none of the groups were dismal one hit wonders (with the exception of maybe one or two artists)! Also, why bother chasing for the original hard to find, maybe obsolete and out of print albums, for the actual top hit; the rest may be filler or junk !The only error of omission is not including the full length version of Soft Cell's Tainted Love w/ Where Did Our Love Go... The sequencing or order of tracks is up to par. There is nothing slow or unfamiliar with regards to song title or artist. This is the perfect c.d for retro parties. The length of entire c.d. does not drag on as well. Highly recommended---and don't judge the c.d by the simple generic cover art graphics...

A CD For 80's Clubgoers,

If you want just the straight-forward versions of these songs, there are many more compilations out there. The special thing about this CD is that it includes hard to find remixes (extended versions) of the songs. Of particular interest is the Shep Pettibone remix of Level42's "Something About You". If you were clubbing in the 80's you'll know just how special this CD is.

This is a wonderful compilation of dance tunes from the good times dancing 80s and it will not disappoint. Whether you danced to these like there was no tomorrow, or whether you are checking out this kind of music, you are in for a happy treat. I bought this on impulse to see me through preparing my tax return, and it turned into one of my favorite energy albums. This is also a good party CD.

Only the dumbest song on here is in full length extended form!,

Great! Only "The Politics of Dancing" is in it's full extended form. There are a few songs that are the 12" versions but they are SHORTENED! W-H-Why? Why not simply use less songs.
There is another issue I have here? Is not this supposed to be and 80's COMPILATION? So why are there two 90's remixes on this? While "Tainted Love" sounds like it's original counterpart, production wise, the one I was used to was the one that segued into "Where Did Our Love Go?" As for ABC's "The Look Of Love" it is a totally housed up version that reflects the early 90's then the early 80's when this song was out. Now, as for a compilation of 80's music, this does a nice job.

This 80's New Wave CD is Ok, the only good songs are Dexy's Midnight Runner's, Come On Eileen, The Go-Go's Vacation, Bananarama's Venus, Tears For Fears, Shout, Soft Cells, Tainted Love, Animotion's Obsession, and ABC'S, The Look Of Love, I don't care for the other songs but especially Frankie Goes To Hollywood's Relax for me that song is like nails on a chalkboard!
