The World Education Encyclopedia (WEE) provides an overview of the history and current state of education globally and a survey of the educational systems of 181 countries. Each long, signed country article gives the history of the national education system, describes it in depth, provides basic data as of 1985, and discusses the system's changing needs. Arranged alphabetically by country, WEE does not cover individual educational subjects. That material e.g., educational research, trends, specific topics, theoriescan be found in The International Encyclopedia of Education (IEE) , edited by Torsten Husen and T. Neville Postlethwaite (Pergamon, 1985. 10 vols.), which also treats 160 countries. A unique feature of WEE is a glossary after every article . WEE also includes an appendix of global educational rankings. With its more comprehensive treatment of education globally, WEE belongs in most libraries. Priced at $2150, IEE is limited to larger research libraries. For those libraries that already own IEE, WEE would be a welcome addition. Samuel T. Huang, Northern Illinois Univ. Libs., DeKalb
