Once upon a time, a young girl dreamed of a life as a writer. Live intervened. She married her love before he was shipped off to Vietnam while she worked as an office girl waiting for his return. He did. They had two beautiful boys. They divorced. She returned to work where she spent 35 years climbing the ladder. She received awards, which have nothing to do with writing. She retired. She returned to her dream and began writing a What if Pride and Prejudice story to learn the craft. Why? She loved Austen and Austen fans.

Gayle's next book will be a modern, non-Austen mystery and romance. Bad evil bankers and real estate men challenge a builder. The Waterfalls coming later this year.

A great story with great characters. Very fun and a good plot added to the Pride and Prejudice story. I would have liked some romance between Darcy and Elizabeth. The Author had me worried that Darcy and Elizabeth my not get together. Ending could have been fuller.

I enjoy P & P what if stories and chose this one and its Book One because I always enjoy mystery and plot twists. Darcy engaged in trade- say it is not so. The P & P original characters are joined by others who I liked meeting. The original characters are somewhat re-made in this story so even an Austen enthusiast may have trouble determining what they will do. I enjoyed the over all plot, (Possible SPOILER Info) but was almost confused at Elizabeth's change of mind and heart because it happened so quickly. I was disappointed at the great reveal of Darcy's antagonist. These were minor disappointments that might not be an issue for others.
