GOOD IDEA YET MISLEADING,
This review is from: World Food Programme Feed Bag (Apparel)
When I first saw this, I thought it was such a wonderful idea! I'm disappointed in the price though-when I received it, it stated that only $20.00 of my dollars would be going to the fund. Top it off, made in China. Where does the rest of the $$ go? It's better to give directly so that MORE OF YOUR DOLLARS GO WHERE THEY ARE DESPERATELY NEEDED!!

FEEL LIKE A STAR!*****,

"Throughout my time as a volunteer, I have gotten to travel to 7 countries around the world (Guatemala, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Chad, Lesotho, Tanzania, and Honduras) that are all receiving food aid from WFP. The people I have met during my travels struggle each day to obtain one of the most basic human needs--food. It breaks my heart to think that every 5 seconds a child dies needlessly of hunger and malnutrition."
When I read what Lauren Bush said, my immediate thought was that I could provide at least one hungry child with food for one year by purchasing this bag. I'm a senior citizen living on a fixed income. By lowering my food expenses $10 for six weeks I purchased this bag (free shipping from Amazon). I, now, use this bag to purchase my weekly groceries. Not only am I feeding one child for a year, I also am doing my small part for the environment by not using the plastic/paper containers. Thank you! ...Ann Forster, Foxborough, MA

Love it!,

I love this (tote) bag. Good quality, very sturdy. I like that it is reversible, it's like having two bags in one! The white side makes it look sporty and the other side it's for a more natural look. On the white side it has three pockets, one on the front (could store a magazine) and two on the sides (perfect for cell pone, keys, etc). I will take this bag with me to classes, travels, oh... and I guess it could even work for my knitting stuff! Add to all above that it's for a good cause... excellent!

When I first saw this, I too thought it was such a wonderful idea! I was also greatly disappointed in finding out only $20.00 of my dollars would be going to the fund-that's not even half of what I paid. I'm with the other reviewer when she says "Where does the rest of the $$ go? It's better to give directly so that MORE OF YOUR DOLLARS GO WHERE THEY ARE DESPERATELY NEEDED!!" Amen.

why not just donate the whole $60 to a charity instead????,
This review is from: World Food Programme Feed Bag (Apparel)
Why spend $60 for something when only $20 is going to the charity? Hey, if it's a good bag and worth $60 then buy it, but don't fool yourself that you're doing some great deed by giving $40 to a company who is making a cheap burlap bag. There are so many charities out there where you can donate the $60 to and that would really be making a difference. It's always a good idea to check out the actual amount from the purchase the company is donating to a cause.
They advertise this bag as "$20 a year can transform a child's life and provide the tools for a lifetime of self-reliance." so why not just help out THREE kids and send the $60 directly to the organization? The company should be doing the right thing and donating 100% to the charity but it's often more about the hype than anything else.

Great idea, but look closely at the tag,

I absolutely love my feed bag. It's great for carrying books to class and stylish to boot. But I have to say that I was very disappointed when I saw that the bag was made in China, which probably means it was created with sweatshop labor. I don't want to compromise some people's rights in order to help others. The program should look into making the bag fair-trade, and then we can proudly show our feed bags!

misleading,
By

I think the bag itself is great. But it's misleading to tell the customer you are feeding 1 child for a year with the World Food Program for $59.95, when only $20 actually goes to the program.

Get this @ Whole Foods!!!,
This review is from: World Food Programme Feed Bag (Apparel)
I nearly purchased this bag thinking the cause was good, but upon reading further reviews I started to question the ridiculously high price.
This bag is sold at Whole Foods Markets for 1/2 the price. They cover some of the mark-up so your money is spent helping supply 100 meals. Go there to purchase it!

Perfection in a Bag,

To be able to get something this stylish and practical while supporting such a heart-warming cause is just incredible. Its a consumer's dream. We need more products like this. I've never felt so good about a purchase. It was the perfect gift for my mom and sister who both love the bag and the story.

I loved this bag when i saw it, loved the idea..told everyone about it.. Then it fell apart. I used to back and forth to work to hold my purse and laptop. the burlap started falling apart and leaving burlap pieces on all my clothes...i tried sewing it to make it last longer, didnt work...better to get a 10$ bag and give the other $50 directly to WFP, with the bag only $20 goes and you end up looking a mess due to the burlap falling apart. I think mine started falling apart in three months and i wasnt very tough on it...used it for flying a few times but that and work, and i drive to work so it's not like it was doing much more than being toted from the house to the car and from the car to the office.
Also, depending on what you are wearing the burlap can make pulls or wear your clothes in spots... thats why i always used the cotton on the outside...plus the cotton print with the 1 is really great looking. |
