What this is: a young musician's first album. What this isn't: the most complex, technical, perfected album. But it's a very enjoyable album. The music will make you think of the usual comparisons - M&S, DMB, etc - while also making you think, hey this Phillip Phillips guy sounds a little different from those other bands. Really enjoyed track 4 - nice mixing, great sweeping vocals, and nice guitar picking. Really hope this kid keeps his head down and avoids the AI machine gimmicks so he can experience the necessary "life" required to elevate his career to 2nd, 3rd, and more albums. Love that he writes his own music, can't wait to hear more from him so long as he stays true to his ability and perspective. No, he's not the best "singer" from AI but typically the music that plays the soundtrack to your life is the music with the most passion. If you like this style of music, you can hear Phillip's passion in his writing and his picking. Good job, Phillip!

I downloaded this shortly after midnight 11/19, and this morning I am on the 2nd listen. Phillip wrote 9 of the 12 tracks on this album, and I am so impressed with the lyrics, the melodies, harmonies, instrumental arrangements.......not to mention that I liked his voice from the very beginning; but he is not just a singer, he is a true musician. I was a Phillip Phillips fan from the very beginning of last season's AI, and knew he would be the contestant whose album I would want to own. It is the reward for everyone who voted for him. This being a first album, I am sure he has a fantastic career ahead of him, and I can't think of anyone more deserving.

I am a huge Phillip Phillips fan! I feel in musical love when I spotted him on the audition show of AI. I was captured completely when I searched him out on youtube and saw some of the performances there. ( I am still waiting for him to do some of those songs live! Go search G&S Experience on youtube!) Anyway, with the exception of a few, and I mean a very few, Phillip is and will always be a musician thrown amongst the glitter that is AI. This new album which I have now listened to 3 times since 530 am EST is incredible. I already have some favorites-Man on the Moon, Get Up Get Down, and A Fool's Dance. The whole album is something that not even Kelly Clarkson (also one of my favs of AI) can claim to have the first time out the door, that is- an album that is what the artist "IS" actually as an musician. All of these songs I can see Phillip with his band behind him singing and jamming out. I hate the comparison, but if you like/love Dave Matthews Band, Mumford & Sons, or any of that genre then you will not be disappointed. I can't wait for a live show! Please listen I don't think you'll be disappointed! Cheers!

I am so glad this artist's first album reflects who he is. I hate it when someone wins American Idol, then their debut album is some pop crap with nothing to do with who that artist wanted to be. Bravo, Phillip. This album showcases the artist and his songwriting skills.

If you liked "Home" you will enjoy this album! Phillip blends creativity, heart and soul, combined with incredible guitar playing and clever lyrics. I love that he's stayed true to his own unique style! Have enjoyed listening to this since I downloaded it earlier today. Splendid background instrumentals! Too many "favorites" on this album to single out my favorite! Love it!!

I just heard this for the first time on the way home from the store and I really think it's hot! The vocals are excellent and the songs are original and fantastic! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HIS VOICE! He did a really cool remake of Wicked Game. Get Up Get Down is hot. Everything rocks, really recommend this; it doesn't sound like an Idol Cd..it already has the feel and flow of a true artist!

I can't say I have ever bothered to purchase an album by any other previous Idol winner....or contestant for that matter, a song here and there but never the album. I knew before this one was released that this year would be different. Simply put because Phillip Phillips is different than any previous Idol contestant or winner. There are always a lot of great singers on Idol, what sets this young man apart is that he isn't just a singer, he is an artist and it is evident in his music.

Of the fifteen tracks on this album, Phillips wrote or co-wrote ten of them. The result is a unique blend of rock, soul, blues, and folk. Something fresh and new in an industry currently dominated by pop tracks and cookie cutter music. This album has the potential to become one of my favorites.I am pleased with the new trend in music more toward the singer song writer and away from the Minages, Perrys, and Gagas of the industry. It is time for a return to real music, music with a message and purity that is lacking in much of the over-produced music in today's industry.

If you like pre-packaged music with a mindless rhythm and no message, this album isn't for you. If you like music that tells a story, moves you, and manages to be unique and still catchy then please, buy this album- it delivers. I am so glad Iovine recognized that America wanted Phillips as he is- Phillip Phillips, gray t-shirts and grey jackets and someone true to his self and his craft. I feared they would try making Phillips the next pop idol for teens- so glad Iovine got the message.
