5.0 out of 5 stars Kander and Ebb Really do "Make the World Go Round", January 19, 2001
This review is from: And The World Goes 'Round: The Songs Of Kander & Ebb (1991 Original Broadway Cast) (Audio CD)
If you like show tunes performed by some of the finest singers to ever give voice to them, this CD is an absolute must have! There are so many songs on this CD, and everyone a show stopper, that it's practically a steal at the price. If you are not a Kander and Ebb afficiando, which I am not, you will find yourself asking "did they do THIS ONE, TOO"? The duet by Bob Cuccioli and Jim Walton of "I Don't Remember You" and "Sometimes a Day Goes By" is absolutely fabulous. Every song is done with perfect styling. The arrangements are fabulous and the order of the music is just right. I've seen CD's claiming that "this is the only Broadway CD you'll ever need". Don't believe it. This CD is one that contains the most popular music from some of the most famous and more current shows that I've ever heard. If you love show music (even if you don't know what show these songs are from), you'll love this CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Revue, July 29, 2000

This review is from: And The World Goes 'Round: The Songs Of Kander & Ebb (1991 Original Broadway Cast) (Audio CD)
The music of Kander & Ebb is some of the best that broadway has to offer, and this show gives you just a taste. All of the performers are wonderful. Karen Ziemba is a particular standout. The flow of the songs is great, as well as the arrangements. If you like Kander & Ebb than this is the cd for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Collection of Broadway Greats., August 18, 2001
This review is from: And The World Goes 'Round: The Songs Of Kander & Ebb (1991 Original Broadway Cast) (Audio CD)
The music on this CD is just great. Kander and Ebb were probably some of the best composers of all time. This CD has all the classics and some of their lesser known songs. The one thing that made it not get 5 stars was the fact that so many of the songs are mixed together. For example "Quiet Thing" and "Marry Me" were mixed together in an array that really didn't suit either of them all that well. The overall soundtrack is very good, the recording quality is quite good too but I just wish they would have left some of the songs in their full format.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well worth buying, August 24, 1999

This review is from: And The World Goes 'Round: The Songs Of Kander & Ebb (1991 Original Broadway Cast) (Audio CD)
This is an excellent greatest-hits type musical, and a good recording. My only complaint is that it doesn't include the songs "Class" or "The Rink", which the stage show does include. Still, highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars good show with good music, March 4, 2006
This review is from: And The World Goes 'Round: The Songs Of Kander & Ebb (1991 Original Broadway Cast) (Audio CD)
I had to play in the orchestra for a run of this show last summer and going into it I had never even heard of Kander and Ebb. However, after listening to this music countless times I began to really dig it. Some of the songs are humorous, but pretty much all of them carry a message. Also the singing on this disc is very well done, personally i'm a fan of the performance of "Spider Woman" (I don't know the singer's name). All in all this is a cd worth listening to.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Have To Love This CD!, May 7, 1999

This review is from: And The World Goes 'Round: The Songs Of Kander & Ebb (1991 Original Broadway Cast) (Audio CD)
Don't give it a second thought; buy this CD. This successful off-Broadway show had a great cast singing some great Kander and Ebb songs. Songs range from the humorous to beautiful ballads. If you don't have this in your collection, you don't know what you're missing.

Although I have just seen this in Kansas City and no one (in my book) holds a candle to Teri Adams, this recording is the next best thing. These are great songs--half of which are hillariously funny (though much of the humor is interpreted through blocking and facial expression), and the other half are serious. Before I saw this show, I had no idea who Kander and Ebb were, let alone that they wrote so many songs that I already knew and loved. Funny how things like that work...

This is a great CD! Several of the songs are classic, Sara Lee and Coffee in a Cardboard cup.

5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT album, May 17, 2008
This review is from: And The World Goes 'Round: The Songs Of Kander & Ebb (1991 Original Broadway Cast) (Audio CD)
Some of the finest compositions by John Kander and Fred Ebb are put together in this musical revue that celebrates their music. All the songs are great, and the interpretations are first rate. Sorry, Liza (Minelli):recognizing you're one of my favourite singers - "Colored Lights", in the voice of Karen Mason here, is more accomplished than your version in THE RINK. The moving "Isn't this Better" Trio is simply unforgeatable. Get this one without hesitation, you'll love it, specially if you are a Kander and Ebb fan.
