4.0 out of 5 stars grim reading, October 9, 2006
This review is from: The World Health Report 2006: Working Together for Health (World Health Reports) (Paperback)
WHO does a wonderful job all over the world, but especially in developing countries, where it provides good advice and some funds to improve health. This latest annual report furnishes evidence of WHO's continued dedication.

But the report also makes grim reading. It does not downplay in any sense the continuing scourge of AIDS. With southern Africa still being the worst hit region. More troubling, India shows a danger of immense infections amongst its poorer classes. While Russia also is potentially at risk.

Other diseases mentioned include malaria and tubercolosis. Still prevalent in much of Africa. Remedies are well known, but require more funds and governmental support.
