"Dreamland",
By
This review is from: World of Hits (Audio CD)
Most people who first encountered this CD anticipated another of Ray's "Greatest Hits" collections, and were quite surprised by the selections. As a result, the CD was relatively obscure for some time. However, Ray's intent was to provide an international flavor to the CD's content, and the result is a very sophisticated musical journey into a widely-varied musical "dreamland." This is an wonderfully soothing collection, and the interpretations of such songs as "Greenfields," "More," "Try to Remember," and "The Shadow of Your Smile" are exceptional. Great listening, in the "Conniff Manner!"

From Danke Schoen to Hello Dolly this Ray Conniff collection features some of the great hits of the 1960's! It was first released in 1967 as an album and as a C.D. a few years ago. I think you will come away impressed with the sound of this compact disc. I also enjoyed the renditions of "More" and "Midnight in Moscow". Another fantastic Ray Conniff C.D.to add to your beautiful music collection!

GREAT SONGS IN HIS GREAT STYLE!!,

One of the most popular albums of the master Conniff, this is a collection of wonderful melodies around the world, some of them are from soundtracks, like "More", "I Will Wait For You", "Try to Remember", "Moon River" and "Hello Dolly" (all are great); other songs are traditional tunes of many countries, like "Granada", "Midsumer in Sweden" and "Moscow Nights"; but every song is beautiful performed in Ray's style, with his big orchestra and his wonderful chorus!! This cd is one of his best work.

RAY CONNIFF'S CONTRIBUTION TO THE EASY LISTENING GENRE DURING THE ROCK AND ROLL ERA WAS ALWAYS A REFRESHING RESPITE FROM THE LOUDER, HARSHER SOUNDS OF THE ERA. ON THIS 1967 RELEASE HE ONCE AGAIN FOUND THAT EASY NICHE WHOSE SOUND FOUND IT'S WAY ON THE EASY LISTENING RADIO STATIONS AROUND THE U.S.A.. THE ALBUM IS FILLED WITH A GOOD MIXTURE OF VARIOUS TEMPOS. THREE OUTSTANDING CUTS FROM THIS ALBUM HAVE THAT HAUNTINGLY, BEAUTIFUL SOUNDS THAT CONNIFF WAS FAMOUS FOR ARRANGING, "MIDSUMMER IN SWEDEN", "GREENFIELDS" AND "TRY TO REMEMBER". AN UPLIFTING AND VERY ENJOYABLE LISTENING EXPERIENCE!

Interesting, but out of print album, would be great to see reissued,

I purchased this through a seller, on another website, since it's out of print. The other songs are great, I have to listen to them, but Mr. Conniff has always put out fine work. The main reason I bought the recording is the rare (only on this disc) Midsummer In Sweden, written by his wife, which has a mysterious but "sexy" quality to it, if one can describe a song that way (I think it's the sax). I sincerely hope it would be reissued one day (I'd pick up an extra copy as "backup", as the one I have has some scratches, and I hope it plays ok). If not, the aforementioned song should be included as a "bonus track" somewhere. Fine work.
