5.0 out of 5 stars A BOOK OF ENDURING HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE, March 28, 2005
This review is from: World War II Letters and Notes of Colonel James H. Polk, 1944-1945 (Paperback)
This book collects the letters and notes of a man closely associated with General George Patton during the push across Europe. It is vibrantly written and will prove invaluable to those researching WWII. There is never a substitute for soldiers' letters when seeking to understand the reality of war.

5.0 out of 5 stars this is a love story, November 10, 2007

This review is from: World War II Letters and Notes of Colonel James H. Polk, 1944-1945 (Paperback)
This is a love story. With maps available, this would give a more meaningful account of Col.James Polk's sector of World War II. Any World War II buff would benefit from this book.

This book would also be particularly helpful, if I were an army bride, whose husband was overseas. These letters kept the home fire burning at a great distance.
