About the Artist
Nicholas Alan is a native of Pembroke Pines, Florida, though raised in Marietta, GA. His experience with music started when he took up the bass for a high school rock band. But a desire to write songs would lead Nicholas, at the age of 16, to start learning guitar. But it wasnt until early college years at the University of Georgia that Nicholass songs were good enough to be played, pulling on influences such as Rufus Wainwright, Beach Boys, and John Mayer. He got a band together called Countless Others, who played around Athens for a while but never really fit in with the jam band scene. Upon graduating, Nicholas and the other members started playing in Atlanta. Within months Countless Others were playing well known venues such as Eddies Attic and Andrews Upstairs. But with as much fun as the band was and despite the many heads that it turned, there was a problem with the way the music was coming across. Nicholas felt that his music was better suited for more relaxed and intimate performances. So he said good-bye to the band and set to work building a career as a singer-songwriter from the ground up. "A World Like Ours" is Nicholas's debut cd released in May, 2005. For more information on Nicholas Alan, visit www.nicholasalan.com.
