Deep Forest is great...but check out Waterbone, February 13, 2001

I am a relatively new fan of Deep Forest, but they have quickly become one of my favorite New Age/World Music artists. I have their first cd "Deep Forest" and their second cd "Boheme." I actually prefer "Boheme" over "Deep Forest" because there is more depth to this album which portrays more vividly their musical genius. One day I was reading the reviews on a Deep Forest cd and the reviewer suggested checking out the album "Tibet" by Waterbone, adding that he thought it was superior to Deep Forest. I finally found a copy of it (for some reason they are not offering this cd in music stores and on most websites) and I can't praise this album enough. It is the first cd I have purchased in years where I absolutely love every one of its eleven tracks. If you like Deep Forest, Delerium and Enigma, you'll LOVE Waterbone. If you are a Tangerine Dream fan, you will also experience their sound (in the synthesizer pieces) on 5 or 6 of the tracks. Believe it or not, a Tangerine Dream sound mixed with Deep Forest/Delerium/Enigma sounds fabulous! So, if you can find a copy of this rare and excellent cd, go for it. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!

My favorite Deep Forest cd!, December 18, 2000
This review is from: World Mix (Audio CD)
The standard US version of this release is mysteriously OUT OF PRINT for some reason! However, this is an import version titled "World mix" with different cover artwork and bonus mixes and therefore is an essential item for those who cannot get a hold of a copy of the original Deep Forest album Deep Forest came around shortly after the huge success of Enigma who combined Gregorian chants to ambient dance rhythms. Deep Forest came up with a similar concept except it was to mix Pygmy/African vocal samples with dance rhythms creating a sound all it's own. While the following Deep Forest cds have been great as well, none of them have matched the qualities and beauty found on this release and therefore it is among one of most essentials albums of the progressive world music genres of all time.

depends on the type of person you are, November 13, 2000

I bought this CD in 6th grade (about 6 years ago) and I was very proud of it. It's sort of culture-techno, with a distinct techno beat. I remember blasting it up in the mountains where no one could here it for miles and dancing to it with 6th grade enthusiasm. It's not just for sixth graders of course. My whole family loved it. It's clean obviously, and is great calming music and also good for studying.
