Deep Forest is great...but check out Waterbone,
By A Customer
This review is from: World Mix (Audio CD)
I am a relatively new fan of Deep Forest, but they have quickly become one of my favorite New Age/World Music artists. I have their first cd "Deep Forest" and their second cd "Boheme." I actually prefer "Boheme" over "Deep Forest" because there is more depth to this album which portrays more vividly their musical genius. One day I was reading the reviews on a Deep Forest cd and the reviewer suggested checking out the album "Tibet" by Waterbone, adding that he thought it was superior to Deep Forest. I finally found a copy of it (for some reason they are not offering this cd in music stores and on most websites) and I can't praise this album enough. It is the first cd I have purchased in years where I absolutely love every one of its eleven tracks. If you like Deep Forest, Delerium and Enigma, you'll LOVE Waterbone. If you are a Tangerine Dream fan, you will also experience their sound (in the synthesizer pieces) on 5 or 6 of the tracks. Believe it or not, a Tangerine Dream sound mixed with Deep Forest/Delerium/Enigma sounds fabulous! So, if you can find a copy of this rare and excellent cd, go for it. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!

My favorite Deep Forest cd!,

The standard US version of this release is mysteriously OUT OF PRINT for some reason! However, this is an import version titled "World mix" with different cover artwork and bonus mixes and therefore is an essential item for those who cannot get a hold of a copy of the original Deep Forest albumDeep Forest came around shortly after the huge success of Enigma who combined Gregorian chants to ambient dance rhythms. Deep Forest came up with a similar concept except it was to mix Pygmy/African vocal samples with dance rhythms creating a sound all it's own. While the following Deep Forest cds have been great as well, none of them have matched the qualities and beauty found on this release and therefore it is among one of most essentials albums of the progressive world music genres of all time.

I bought this CD in 6th grade (about 6 years ago) and I was very proud of it. It's sort of culture-techno, with a distinct techno beat. I remember blasting it up in the mountains where no one could here it for miles and dancing to it with 6th grade enthusiasm. It's not just for sixth graders of course. My whole family loved it. It's clean obviously, and is great calming music and also good for studying.

They are our past...,

...and maybe, maybe they are our future. I have been listening to new age music since I was in the 5th grade but this was mostly the first one I ever listened to. I remember hearing a few songs my dad played when I was very young. But this was the first one that I bought. Deep Forest is the name used by french keyboardists Eric Mouquet and Michael Sanchez but they don't just use keyboards they also use afican vocals. It is an excellent combination and so far the best one that I have heard from world music. In my opinion, every song is worth listening to. My favorites on the album are: Sweet Lullaby[ambient mix], Night Bird, Desert Walk, White Whisper and The Second Twilight. The extra features on the album are different mixes from Sweet Lullaby, Deep Forest and Forest Hymn. This is just like a special edition of the original album called Deep Forest which as I know it now is out of print. But I am glad that I was able to get a copy of this one. I would recommend this album to anyone who likes tribal rythems with new age music. I loved the album and I hope you do to.

I'm a fan of Deep Forest. I love it. Deep Forest (along with Enigma) is #1 new release I am watching for in stores and/or on Amazon.com and as soon it comes out I buy it. Along with Deep Forest I also love Enigma, Amethystium and few others. Deep Forest is one of the best New Age "artists". I recommend all Deep Forest CDs to every New Age music fan and not only.Wonderful and exotic music for your ear and soul!

Bought this CD for a party, wanted some kind of ambient sort of techno dance stuff. It was perfect! And then I couldn't stop listening to it in my car. Have to dance in my seat at the stop lights! Not a single track I don't like, and I love the exotic sampling. I will definitely be getting some more Deep Forest in the future.

Deep Forest, and Mt Rainier - What a stress releaser,
By A Customer
This review is from: World Mix (Audio CD)
I am new to Deep Forest. I received this CD as a gift without knowing the origins or creaters of this wonderful music and sound. Driving to Mt. Rainier in the state of Washington, in my new VW Beetle, listening to Deep Forest for the first time gripped my soul and released all stress.

Like in the Bible, this CD is a trip inside a forest, where the past, represented by primitive people, could be felt like a return to the beginning of Genesis, where world was just a Sweet lullaby during the firsts twilights, and humans and trees, animals and even the wind sung togheter. It is also a description of a wanted future. Best Songs: Sweet Lullaby, Sunrise at Alcatraz, Forest Hymn

Great cd, one suggestion is if you buy it go out and pick up a science fiction book like the lord of the rings and listen while reading. It puts you in another world.
