Gameplay is very good. You have a choice of time trial, single race or career. However some cars and tracks are locked out at the beginning. This is a big pet peave of mine. I paid for the game (using the Motorsportgaming funds ofcourse) and I want access to all that I paid for. Some people might have time to run a full career and unlock the treats but I like to jump in,...

Gameplay is very good. You have a choice of time trial, single race or career. However some cars and tracks are locked out at the beginning. This is a big pet peave of mine. I paid for the game (using the Motorsportgaming funds ofcourse) and I want access to all that I paid for. Some people might have time to run a full career and unlock the treats but I like to jump in, experiment for a bit and get out.

There are three levels of difficulty easy, medium and OUTLAW. On the first attempt Outlaw is next to impossible. These cars are monsters. They will pull wheelies down the front straight and your back end will be in front of you before you know it, if you are not careful. Take my advice on this, start at easy and work your way up. The physics seem to be very well done, the cars are quite slippery and coupled with the force feedback it makes it very easy to get a feel for what the car is doing. Ai seems to be pretty good on intitial contact, they provide a little bit of bumping in the corners but generally seem to drive fairly intelligently.

Graphics are very good. I am running at a resolution of 1600x1200 full detail and get extremely fluid framerates. There does seem to be a small glitch though, every once in a while the graphics will skip, I have tried to remedy this by turning of the partical detail and am having favorable results. Will probably upgrade my video driver and see what happens.

The cars are well modelled and the track looks great. My only complaint would be that it looks slightly cartoony. Small gripe though it is still just a game. The sound quality is very good as well. The engines rumble appropriately, there seems to be a good spacial presence. No complaints here.

5.0 out of 5 stars A much better game than you'd think it is..., July 12, 2003

This is a very entertaining racing game. I am not really into dirt-track racing, and have never seen an event live, so I can not say for sure how much it captures its spirit, but it certainly seems to be immersive. I had much more fun playing this game than I had playing Nascar Racing 2003 (although I also like that game).

Note however, that this is not an easy game. These sprintcars are extremely twitchy and hard to control. It will take you a little while before you can get around the track in the harderst setting...

Hat's off to Ratbag's game. Great job!

5.0 out of 5 stars World of Outlaws, January 1, 2004

Fantastic game. Start out on the easy mode though cause its a tough one. After you gain enough skill to win most races other options will open for you. Once you reach the higher skill level it becomes harder to win, so be prepared to practice a lot. This is as close as you are going to get to the real thing.

This is a great game and feels very real. I wish there was a bit more help in the getting the setups, but with practice one can figure it out. I also love the online racing.

I've seen this annoying trend before (I am a Sim-head) in the likes of CFS3 (combat flight sim 3) vs CFS2....."developers" making a sequel, and somehow having an UNCANNY ability to screw-up (often remove) all the important features of the previous game, and replace them with "surface" (useless) upgrades like the TERRIBLE SLOW CLUNKY user interface in WOOSC. Here is the big new "feature" (a negative in my book)...cheesy dirt clumps appear on your windshield to obstruct your view.

POSITIVES

1-it is (was) cheap?
2-the track and sky look better, vehicles slightly better

NEGATIVES
1-Skid marks and tire marks are gone
2-Less tweaking features...MOST important feature is gone...tire compound selection
3-Clunky inefficient new interface
4-Unrealistic cheesy "arrows" appear over other cars
5-Less (actually now zero) ability to customize...no add-on cars or tracks like the first one had.

PLEASE READ #5 AGAIN...NO ADD ON TRACKS OR CARS OR NEW CIRCUITS CAN BE FOUND ON THE NET...SERIOUS NEGATIVE AND KILLS REPLAYABILITY.

I'M SORRY...IT'S TIME FOR GAMERS TO REQUIRE MORE, NOT LESS.

Having said this...I still love the first game in the series..DTRSC, I'm just amazed at the choices made, and what sort of "logic" the culprits used, certainly they are not themselves gamers.

This game would be ok if it didn't take forever to load and did not have so many little bugs in it. Try tuning your car and having it stay that way from one race to the next. Not going happen with this game. Decent idea for a game but..............

Not a lot of Sprint car games out there. This one does the job. I bought it for my brother in law so I can't speak to its' physics or force-feedback.
IGN gave it an 8.5. [..]

I bought this for my husband and he plays it all the time. He loves the fact that he can feel like a real driver and make adjustments, etc... He has a steering wheel that rumbles and pedals that help with the feel. It is really a cool game.

The best racing game I have ever owned/played ever. I live close to Husets speedway in Brandon, SD and visit the track often and have been to Knoxville also, the tracks are rendered in amazing detail and are for the most part, very accurate. Awesome!
